Causes: Human Services, Senior Centers, Seniors
Mission: The promotion, establishment and support of activities and facilities for the benefit and advancement of the general welfare and quality of life of senior citizens in the town of dennis, and the making of distributions to other exempt organizations that also support those senior citizens.
Programs: We support the town of dennis council on aging (coa) by: 1. Making direct unrestricted grants to them 2. Purchasing furniture and computer equipment for them to use in their activities for the seniors of dennis 3. Providing direct financial assistance for medical alarms, medical transport and other living expenses to individual seniors who are referred to us by coa. 4. Paying for two needy individuals to attend the coa's "golden age group" (an adult day care program) at coa's request.
we supported via 1,000 grants five other 501(c)(3) organizations that in turn provide assistance to senior citizens in dennis. These organizations were hope health, visiting nurse association of cape cod, sight loss services of cape cod, hope dementia & alzheimer's services of cape cod, and compass adult day health center.
we provided services directly to individual seniors of the town of dennis that included: 1. Holiday gift bags were given to 130 dennis senior shut-ins in december 2014. These bags included 19 wrapped gifts (e. G. Toiletries, cookies, candies, energy efficient light bulbs, calendars, etc. ) 2. We coordinated with travel agents to arrange day and overnight trips to various locations and events for the seniors of dennis. 3. We issued quarterly newsletters that included information on various benefits that may be available to our seniors and safety precautions they should take for their wellbeing. 4. We held a "jazz in june" entertainment lunheon for dennis seniors on june 6, 2015 5. We provided three needy alzheimer's patients with radio frequency emitting bracelets that will track them in the event they wander off. 6. In march 2015 we distributed 294 daffodils to 49 "meals on wheels" senior citizens. Fifty six of the cheerful flowers were also placed on tables at a congregate dining site and golden age group location for other seniors to enjoy.
