The Friends of Cook Forest is a strictly volunteer organization to help Cook Forest State Park and bring educational programs and events to the forest. I've been a volunteer for a number of years now. We have built a Sensory Trail (where the original paved trail is by the Sawmill Center) with guide rope, braille/raised letter signage and ada benches. We plant milkweed to help with pollinating. Twice a year we rid trash from Forest Road as part of the adopt-a-highway program. We host a wonderful annual event at Ridge Camp (Camp Fright/Spooky Nights) with a campsite decorating contest, free crafts for the kids and more! Educational programs included guided hikes, orienteering, meteor shower viewing-just to name a few. I'm proud to be a volunteer for the Friends of Cook Forest!
