Mission: Friendly Center is an agency of social concern committed to the development of its neighborhood and its people. We provide the resources to assist neighborhood families and individuals in achieving their goals.
Target demographics: the people of the neighborhood by providing them basic needs, youth programs and adult services in a Christian faith-based environment.
Geographic areas served: the north end of Toledo, serving a population of 14,000+, many of whom live at or just below the poverty level.
Programs: "family resources program" encompasses services that help stabilize families and individuals in our community. The program addresses basic needs & intake, and referral services. This program also serves as method to collect data that informs decision-makers for future programs at friendly center and the community at large.
"child adult care food program" sponsors approved family day care homes throughout northwest ohio. The center ensures that allowable meals served to eligible children in various day care homes are reimbursed at the allowable rate.
"youth program" provides academic, recreational, and enrichment activities year round. Activities include music classes, mural projects, scouting, co-ed basketball, homework assistance, and tutoring.
"health by choice"provides staff and neighbors with nutrition education and create new, healthy menu options by a licensed nutritionist. Also serves meals at the center, and hosts on-site cooking shows around the neighborhood to educate neighbors on ways to cook healthier with available ingredients.
