Mission: Free bikes 4 kidz is a non-profit organization geared towards helping kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need. The public donates gently used bikes, and free bikes 4 kidz organizes thousands of volunteers to clean and refurbish them.
Programs: 2017 marked fb4k's 10th season. A record-breaking year, fb4k processed 9,136 bikes then organized over 3,000 community-minded volunteers with varying skills to clean and refurbish the bikes in 9 weeks. Fb4k worked with 99 local nonprofit community partners to identify and distribute bikes to the kids in the community that need them.
fb4k national currently has affiliates in 8 cities-minneapolis/st. Paul, mn; atlanta, ga; detroit, mi; madison, wi; salt lake city, ut; portland, or; eugene/springfield, or; and yakima wa. With four active cities in 2017, 10,378 bikes were processed. Our goal is to be in 25 cities by 2023, giving away 30,000+ bikes annually. We measure our impact by bikes collected and given away, community partnerships, corporate involvement, and volunteer engagement. We pride ourselves on bringing together very diverse people-groups and resources to do good in these cities.
