Mission: It is the mission of folts homes, with roots planted firmly in the christian tradition, to be a center of excellence as a premier provider of nursing, residential, independent living, and community services. To enhance the lives of those we touch, folts homes shall provide exceptional individualized quality care with the assurance of dignity, pride, and respect for the human spirit. We set the example of the future by being prepared for the challenges and changes that face us. Folts homes pledges a commitment of p. R. I. D. E. To those we serve through: professionalism, responsibility, integrity, dedication, and excellence.
Programs: The main program of the organization is resident care services. During the past seven decades, folts homes, located at 104 north washington street in herkimer, new york, has offered multiple levels of care for older adults - all on one campus. As the needs of residents change over time, they are able to make a smooth transition to the appropriate level of care with the folts homes complex. The folts health center, specializing in the care of alzheimer's disease and dementia, is a home to over 150 residents. This includes over 80 beds being specifically designated as dementia care units. During 2016, the health center had an occupancy rate of over 95%. Specializing in care and services for individuals diagnosed with alzheimer's disease and dementia, folts home continues to offer a monthly support group for resident family members and all care givers needing assistance and support in treating, caring for, and coping with the debilitating disease. This support group is open to the community at no cost. Recognizing the importance of music as both enjoyment and therapy for all our residents, live concerts were scheduled throughout the year. The resident care services program also provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services.
the adult day health care services program ("adhc"), which specializes in alzheimer's/dementia care, is certified with 15 slots. The staff has been successful in creating a cheerful environment with an extensive program of activities designed to enrich the registrants' lives. The activities included the services of a hairdresser, field trips to the farmer's museum in cooperstown, the herkimer county fair grounds for a seniors picnic, a boat tour on the erie canal, enjoying meals at local restaraunts, shopping twice a month at area stores, along with inviting distinguished speakers to visit the adhc program. The registrants also receive physical therapy and podiatry services as needed. The adhc program also has many shared activities with the folts home health center and the child care program. A successful exercise program suitable for those with alzheimer's/dementia is held weekly with residents of the health center. Because folts homes is a faith-based facility, weekly services are available and attended by the adhc clients in the chapel on campus.
