Open to k-12 educators throughout the state, the governor's awards recognizes florida educators for best practices in teaching economics, free enterprise and personal finance. This prestigious event allows the business community to express their appreciation for educators who work tirelessly to teach the values and principles of our free market economy to students throughout the state.
the council administers c. O. D. E. (competition of decision-making with ethics), a series of classroom lessons that introduces concepts of business ethics and economics. Teams of students, acting as senior management, resolve an ethical dilemma revealed over a period of several weeks. Students engage with one another, their instructor and volunteer business partners through social media and other communications channels. The teams videotape their proposed resolutions which are evaluated by a panel of business experts.
