I am proud to be a volunteer coach at Day One Fitness (DOF), a nonprofit gym that is truly changing lives. I believe DOF is a sanctuary of hope for individuals living with different types of debilitating neurological illnesses where the staff help fighters navigate the challenges of said illnesses, equipping and challenging the fighters that attend the gym to achieve their goals. In my time as a volunteer assistant coach here, I've observed that there is a tangible sense of community to the point that I don’t feel that it’s just a gym, it's a family. The support and camaraderie among participants, volunteers, and staff create an environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to fight for their health. I'm honored to be a part of DOF and contribute to the meaningful work they do. If you or a loved one are facing neurological conditions, DOF is the family you’ve been searching for.
I love this place. This is the best workout in the 20+ years of living with multiple sclerosis. They offer many classes that help me with my day-to-day life. Every class that I attend I am able to modify it to fit me. There truly is no judgment. I consider going to my classes as exercise and therapy. I have a newfound confidence.
I am currently volunteering at Day One Fitness and can’t talk enough about the amazing people running this nonprofit along with the incredibly inspiring athletes participating in these classes! I’ve been able to witness the strong sense of community that this program brings to the participants and I leave every time feeling more motivated and thankful to be going into a career that closely mimics the energetic and encouraging atmosphere that is experienced at Day One Fitness. I look forward to every day I get to volunteer here!
Volunteering at Day One Fitness has been an amazing experience! The staff and members are very kind and show a true passion for the health and wellness of individuals with varying neurological conditions. The various classes offered (power boxing, yoga, dance, and more) are wonderful and allow each member to showcase his/her athletic abilities. I have enjoyed the time I’ve spent here, and I look forward to volunteering more in the near future!
I am a Physical Therapy student and have had the privilege of volunteering at Day One Fitness for the last several months. It has been such an incredible experience to witness people of all abilities fighting back against a multitude of life-altering diagnoses. The community that this organization fosters is empowering for participants, coaches, caregivers, and volunteers alike. Every class is full of life, strength, and encouragement! It is truly a blessing to be a part of an organization that values exercise, movement, and encouragement to fight back!
I have used Fighting to Win’s gym for people with neurological conditions for four years. I have Parkinson’s disease and have benefited greatly from their services 2-3 times weekly. My health has improved through their exercise & training programs.
I’m stronger, healthier, & have been able to delay the progression of Parkinson’s disease. My Neurologist & my internist both are saying, “Whatever you are doing, keep it up!” The staff are very dedicated & helpful. The opportunity to exercise along side of others with neurological disorders has been a great benefit too. - Mark S.
