Nonprofit Overview
Mission: Fight the kraken corporation hopes to bring light to the atrocity that is the great pacific garbage patch. We as a species have damaged our greatest global resource---water, through waste and misuse. (raising awareness) the organization hopes to generate funding for the ocean conservancy to aid their current and future cleanup efforts. It hopes to demonstrate that humans can enjoy our natural resources with zero negative impact. The organization also wants to spotlight exactly what our impact on the ocean looks like. (educate the public)
Programs: In june, 2016 the organization (the president and another woman)rowed across the pacific ocean from monterey, ca to honolulu, hi. The nearly 3000 mile trip took approximately 2 months to complete. The journey was done unassisted---no stops, no food drops, no sails, no motor, just muscle. Everything needed to survive at sea was carried on the boat with the two women. The organization was able to spotlight the great pacific garbage patch. The ocean entertains us, inspires us, and sustains us, so we all need to take responsibility for its protection.
