Causes: Health, Job Training, Vocational Rehabilitation
Mission: Fieldstone farm engages the therapeutic power of our horses to discover and nurture the special abilities of individuals, families, and communities.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 1,000 individuals during more than 16,000 lessons
Programs: The center provides equine programs to individuals with specialneeds of all ages. Horseback riding and interaction with horsesengenders many physical and mental benefits which enable theseindividuals to achieve "little victories" through increasedself-worth and esteem. More than 16,100 lesson hours wereprovided. Specialized programming for veterans of the armed forces helps them to overcome the emotional and physical challenges of military service. The "gaitway high school" is an alternative school for students who thrive best in a non-traditional academic environment. This experiential program is highly successful in teaching job and life skills due to the motivation of the horses and the natural environment.
