Mission: The mission of fenway health is to enhance the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and all people in our neighborhoods and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research and advocacy.
Programs: Medical & pharmacy services - fenway provides a wide range of medical services including internal medicine, infectious disease care, gynecology, dermatology, dental, podiatry, nutrition, family planning, clinical laboratory services, adolescent medical care, optometry, radiology, mammography and complimentary therapy services. Fenway is especially noted for its gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender health services, including hiv care, alternative insemination for lesbians, sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment. It is also noted for its services to elderly residents of the fenway neighborhood.
research - fenway institute operates the nation's first community based hiv research program, which has been conducting long term epidemiological research since 1985. Fenway is one of eight sites in the us that was selected by the national institute of allergies and infectious diseases to recruit participants for the first clinical trials of an hiv vaccine. In 2007, the fenway institute was awarded a federal population center grant from the national institute of health, representing the first time a community based organization was selected for this type of work. Working with the american college of physicians, they also published the nation's first medical textbook focused on lgbt people the fenway guide to lgbt health.
behavioral health - in keeping with fenway health's commitment to care for the whole person, behavioral health is a fundamental part of its primary care model. Fenway offers individual, group, couple, family therapy, psychiatric consultation and addiction services. In addition to psychotherapy and counseling services fenway also provides outpatient substance abuse services including daily acupuncture services for alcohol and drug addiction, medical social work and violence recovery programs.
