My husband and I moved from Arizona to NY to look for work here as we couldn't find any work in AZ. Unfortunately things didn't go much better here but we came to be closer to family for support. Because of the economy being what it is, family are doing what they can but can only help that much. The Feed Our Veterans Charity has been such a blessing. Under the circumstances their help has definitely taken some stress off our shoulders providing us with food, toiletries and moral support. Wonderful people with a great attitude.
I've served in three branches of the armed services over 25 years & have had interaction with many government and non-government affiliated departments/agencies across the country & around the globe. Only recently did I encounter circumstances that caused me to swallow my pride & ask for help; which is NEVER easy for a man, especially a soldier, to do. My experience with more than thirty charitable organizations and about a dozen churches, as well as a few political reps, was a complete waste of resources with very few exceptions: The FOV was the only one that gave my wife & I what we needed the very same day that we contacted them; actually they were only the second agency to help and their help is ongoing which makes our lives easier & my stress much less than it was. We soldiers do what we do for many reasons but the end result is the same: we SERVE so others don't have to which keeps the country free & the citizens safe. We never think of taking &, unfortunately, not many think of giving because they assume our own government will care for us...which just isn't true. Independent charitable organizations like the FOV are too few & far between & not as well funded/supported and/or publicized as they should be. We need more & we are grateful for those who see the need and give generously.
Our son came home from overseas duty, has not been able to find a job. The Feed The Vets Utica-Rome NY is a lifesaver for providing him and his wife with food each month. Thank you to Rich Synek for founding this much need organization to help our veterans. I'm sure the older generations are thankful for the help also on limited budgets. Please donate to this worthy cause.
This organization is spectacular! The directors and volunteers are very friendly and went above and beyond to help some needy veterans. They helped families of mobilized reservists with needed food providing a relief for some who also recently lost a job or had a drop in income and assistance. This is a much-needed program in the depressed economy of Central NY.
This organization is a real lifesaver for veterans. Not only do they help us, they truly care about us. I was diagnosed with cancer and was about to loose my home. I had seen an article in a magazine about this organization and figured I'd see what they could do to help. They have remained in contact with me several times a month to be sure we are doing ok and if they can do anything else to help. Not only did they provide me with Walmart gift cards, they called other people and agencies who would be able to help me. Rich contacted my congress people to get involved as well. I had several calls from people to aid and assist us after they became involved.
