Causes: Crime & Law, Sexual Abuse Prevention
Mission: To redeem and restore lives broken by sexual abuse and to educate and engage college students and communities worldwide to prevent and eradicate sexual abuse.
Programs: Fear 2 freedom aftercare kits are assembled by college students at a one-night educational event, called a "celebration event. " these kits are delivered to a local hospital or community partner that works with victims of sexual assault. The fear 2 freedom aftercare kits include sweatpants, t-shirt, underwear, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a freedom bear and a storybook about the bear. The adult kits also include a journal and pen. The children's kits include a coloring book and crayons. The college students also write a personal note to include in the kit, which is very impactful for the student writing the note and also for the victim receiving the kit. In 2016, university students across virginia, washington, dc and ohio came together to construct over 4,500 kits for victims of sexual abuse.
the fear 2 freedom sexual assault programming and resources tool kit is a comprehensive, educational program to help universities combat sexual assault and assist in fulfilling title ix requirements on their campus. This program provides the resources needed to foster a culture of intervention, prevention, and awareness and begin a positive conversation with students to empower and encourage them to be the change and help combat sexual assault on their college or university campus. This tool kit includes a 30-minute comprehensive education film, a university discussion panel guide, a sexual assault statistic and fact sheet, the fear 2 freedom pledge, a resource card, a survey assessment tool, and a 3-minute empowerment video. After this new program was launched in april 2016, six (6) colleges/universities purchased the toolkit in 2016.
