It is an absolutely wonderful opportunity for our community. I have been working with Fayette Literacy for about 12 years. I have worked them through the public school system position for about 3 years and 9 years in higher education. They have helped so many receive their high school diploma and pushed them to further their education by getting their bachelors and some have even received their masters. I am so proud of all the work they do because they are changing lives everyday!

After being on the Fayette Literacy Board for a short time I’ve discovered what a dedicated and ambitious group I have become involved with. This Board is consistently looking for more ways to bring in donations so others can take advantage of the services offered. The Mission Statement speaks to their desired goal clearly: “The primary exempt purpose is to raise awareness of illiteracy in Fayette County, TN and to administer programs that assist in acquiring basic reading and writing skills and to encourage total family literacy”. What an honor it is to be involved with an organization that is available to help others help themselves.

So many good things to say about the Fayette Literacy program!
To assist someone who, for whatever reason, failed to graduate high school in the traditional way - it’s never too late to earn a diploma!
To teach an adult reading skills - having had family members that had little formal education, but managed to maneuver through life; to bring the joy of reading for pleasure to an adult!
To put books into the hands of children through Imagination Library, so that they can develop a love of books that may enhance their life in so many ways!
Serving on the board of Fayette Literacy has given me the opportunity to provide these services, as well as rub elbows with some very dedicated and hard working volunteer individuals!

I work in close proximity to Fayette Literacy and I can vouch for their hard work and dedication to Fayette County's community. Many of the students served by Fayette Literacy become servant leaders themselves and seek employment within the county. Quite a few go on to achieve a higher education or continuing education accomplishment and serve the community as business professionals. This would not be possible without the passion, support, and service provided to them by Fayette Literacy educators and staff.

Fayette Literacy helped me to achieve my high school diploma. I was very happy with the instruction I received to help me pass.

As an educator for adults, I often teach amazing young people who work to better themselves through education. The following story is an example of an aspiring young man who found success through our program.
Josh enrolled in Fayette Literacy in to achieve his high school diploma. He was a determined young man from Moscow, Tennessee and worked diligently to earn his diploma. After graduating, he continued to pursue his educational goals and enrolled in Martin Methodist in Pulaski, Tennessee. Josh was a member of the track team and ran cross country receiving several awards for his performance. Josh also enlisted in the U. S. Army working as a Military Police Officer. Recently, Josh was hired by the
Columbia Police Department in Columbia, Tennessee and is currently attending the Law Enforcement Training Academy. Over the past seven years, Josh has proven that when you set your expectations high and push forward, you are able to accomplish your dreams.
