Causes: Community Coalitions
Mission: Our mission is to end child hunger and build safe communities by empowering people to grow their own food. We foster community-based, socially just, urban, and small-scale agriculture that protects and restores habitat and quality of life for people and wildlife both. To sustain traditions of growing food for generations to come, we provide agricultural curriculum to schools that aligns with state and federal standards for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Results: Since 2010, we have grown and shared over 50 tons of food and helped with supplementing produce for more than nine million meals for reduced fee/free lunch children and their families. Farmer Frog school garden programs are currently active across twelve locations in Snohomish, King, and Pierce Counties serving students aged 5-18 years of age. Farmer Frog feeds over 4,000 low-income students annually through the food produced at the school garden locations. Farmer Frog also trains other professionals, including urban farmer educators, community organizers, and project managers, to successfully create, maintain, and run school gardens and urban community farms.
