I have been volunteering at Far Point Equine Rescue for 3 years now. Marlana Flaherty and her family run this rescue mission and care for 21 horses at the present time. Additionally, there are about 30 cats in a home shelter, 6 barn cats, 2 Shelties, various rescued dogs up for adoption, and a roomful of birds. Cricket (Marlana) cares for the horses and birds every single day of the year. The horses are fed special diets for their medical and aging needs. The stalls are cleaned every day, the horses are groomed, hoofs cleaned, and eyes are cleaned. They are turned out to pasture which is supplemented with hay, and near the end of the day they are brought back in and fed grain and hay again.
This is an organization that could only run with volunteers. We need volunteers for cleaning stalls, maintaining the buildings and grounds, and for fundraising.
This is an excellent organization that cares for all the animals entrusted to their care.
