I have seen Fan of The Feather from it's inception. The amount of patience and love that these two veterans Dr. and Mrs. Wood put into making this a safe haven and comfortable living environment goes above and beyond. They do this with their own determination and fortitude. For those who feel that they did not have a good experience, it sometimes takes one owning up to their responsibility on how things turn out in life.
The ability for our veterans to have a place within a comfortable and loving home because Fan of The Feather provides a "home" not just a room for people to crash. The Wood's reach out to the community and business in order to be able to give these veterans who have fallen on hard times a hand up and they spend countless hours constantly doing what they can to make sure our veterans know that they have a place in which they are not judged but held accountable so that they can go back out in the world feeling good about themselves. So whatever little bit you can do to make this organization one to stay to help our veterans please do so, nothing is too small.
I have visited the home that Fan of the Feather provides for the homeless veterans it serves. I continue to be impressed with the care and the quality of services provided. Just recently, a group of community volunteers redid the garden and planted hundreds of plants including fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, and flowers, so the residents can grow fresh food. The community is very supportive of the program.
I had a brief encounter with a Mrs. or Ms. Vanessa Wood and she was very short with me and unprofessional. It was my impression that she is not in the business of helping the people she services, but is only in this industry to make herself feel better about the lavish lifestyle she lives. It was further my impression that she would go to any length to avoid being around the people who genuinely need her help and simply assist those who she so delicately selects. But it is the people who have the most problems that need the most help. Shame on Fan of the Feather!
