Mission: Family promise provides a continuum of services to address housing needs,
Programs: Emergency shelter program: unique in our approach, the organization currently utilizes over 75 volunteer congregations and up to 1,600 committed volunteers throughout the county to provide shelter space, overnight staffing and meals to our families, making the organization the most cost effective local shelter program today. Families daytime hours are spent away from the host's facilities - at work, school, childcare or at our day center searching for jobs or apartments. In addition to shelter, we also provide meals, intensive case management, transportation, direct financial support, in-kind donations, holiday assistance, and professional services for families and single women. The main goal is to transition families from homelessness to permanent housing. In 2017, we served 44 individuals, including 21 children, providing 4,775 nights of shelter. 92% of esp guests were successful in obtaining housing, employment or job training, childcare, and transportation in 2017. Community support program (csp): upon leaving the shelter, guest are encouraged to participate in the csp. They work with a social worker who follows them for as long as needed, providing 24 hour crisis intervention, in-home case management and referrals, and linkage to needed services. The main goal of this program is to help families maintain permanent housing. Csp also provides services to those on our shelter waiting list and individuals and families leaving other local shelter programs. In 2017, our csp served 68 households comprised of 132 individuals that included 49 children; and 97% of those served maintained their housing, jobs or job training, and childcare. Our promise (op): based out of first baptist church of morristown (51 washington street), op provides the following services- phone and computer access, mailing address, rest rooms, warming/cooling center, information and referral, linkage to medical and dental services, case management, systems advocacy, and more. In 2017, we served 588 unduplicated individuals, with over 20,000 face to face contacts since opening the program. Keys to housing (kh): our housing voucher program consists of 33 housing vouchers from various local, regional and federal partnerships. It has a tenant/landlord component that provides incentives to landlords and education to our prospective tenants. The vouchers are targeted toward helping chronically homeless individuals and families secure permanent housing. Abigail house (ah): ah is a collaboration with christ church of rockaway that allows us to provide safe,affordable and well-maintained apartments for families affected by domestic violence and in transition, making it possible for them to focus on education, employment, family stability, financial literacy, and other critical milestones. In 2017, we served 7 families, including 7 adults and 11 children. Homelessness education: a community outreach program designed to educate the community about the issues of homelessness and the societal issues facing homeless families. The program emphasizes critical thinking skills, responsibility, prevention, and education. In 2017, we provided over 100 community presentations, events, and trainings. Holiday program: gift certificates, gas cards, and presents, donated by the community, are distributed to guests in all of our programs and to former guests who are in need. In 2017, our holiday program served 245 individuals, including 130 children.
