Programs: The rochester area interfaith hospitality network (raihn) helps homeless families achieve sustainable independence by supporting them with tailored services including shelter, food, personalized case management, and a diverse network of caring volunteers. In 2017, raihn served 33 families or 100 individuals, including 57 children. This program is supported by contributions.
raihn provides aftercare for all families that graduate from the program. The aftercare program manager visits the family within 1 week of graduating from raihn and stays in touch with the family through phone calls and home visits for up to one year after the graduation date. The aftercare program manager works with each family, depending on their needs, to ensure continued housing stability and economic self-sufficiency. Approximately 25 families are served each year through this program. This program is supported by contributions.
raihn has developed a life skills curriculum, with classes being presented every two weeks. The classes are mandatory for families in the program. The rotating life skills classes for 2017 were: (1) yay for fruits and veggies (cornell cooperative extension), (2) making nice with your landlord (the housing council), (3) new beginnings: a path to financial literacy (woodforest national bank), (4) job and education opportunities (reoc - rochester educational and opportunity center), (5) stress relief yoga, (6) self-care & stress management (msw intern), (7) healthy homes (u of r medical center). This program is supported by contributions and run by volunteers.
