I have worked for few non-profits over the course of my career, and I would say the past three years at FCS have demonstrated to me the amazing commitment of the more than 125 staff to our clients and their families. As a donor and advocate of my friends and relationships to support the work of the agency, I find that FCS inspires me each day with it's fiscal prudence; its determination to meet community needs that are ever evolving; and it's commitment to removing the stigma from behavioral health care to help people live productive, healthier lives.

The agency is in need of fresh new leadership, especially the CEO. Need a passionate new leader, not someone ready to retire. Time to move into the 21st century.

We encourage you to get in touch with us for more information about our current programs. We are excited to be delivering innovative services benefiting LGBTQ communities and adults transitioning out of the criminal justice system, while continuing our important work of providing a safety net for people with mental health needs, breaking cycles of family violence and abuse, and empowering youth to thrive after they transition into independence from foster care.

I must note that I work for Family & Children Services. I am also a donor. I work for and donate to this organization because its work positively impacts people who are coping with so many issues that are important to me (mental health, foster youth, domestic violence, child abuse, support for students, services for the underserved and often unheard) in so many parts of our community (southern San Mateo County and throughout Santa Clara County) so effectively.

This agency provides a tremendous service to the community, not only because of what they do (help individuals and families become strong, safe and self-sufficient), but also because so much of what they do is transparent to the community. As much as clients come to the agency's locations and know they are being served by Family & Children Services, the agency also has staff working in schools and community centers, such as the San Jose Veterans Center, where they are considered to be part of the staff of the school or center, rather than being known to the client as coming from Family & Children Services. This helps clients to feel at ease.

I have volunteered with this organization for the past three years. The expertise, work ethics and accomplishments of the staff is outstanding. They are continuously looking for strategies to improve their system. It is a wonderful “community “to work with.

I've worked as a volunteer with this agency for the past 7 years and have gotten a closer view of it's staff and programs. I'm impressed at the number of clients being helped with a limited amount of funds. I've found the people I've worked with from the agency to be conscientious, intelligent and acting with compassion and integrity.

I have worked over the past five years on a yearly fundraising event for Family and Children Services. During that time, I have come to really understand the mission of the organization and the successful way in which they reach their institutional goals. Whether it is developing programs for youth that have aged out of foster care, or providing mental health services to those who cannot afford it in our community, Family and Children Services changes and improves lives in dramatic ways.
