Mission: The mission of family advocacy center is to provide high quality advocacy and support services to families/individuals with developmental and other disabilities, empowering them to achieve their potential and promoting opportunity for continued growth.
Programs: Family support services - herkimer, oneida, lewis and oswego counties provides special educator advocacy services in the school setting for developmentally disabled individuals and their families. Assists families with determining eligibility for services for the family member. Guides parents through the guardianship process. Also assists parents with obtaining special equipment such as ramps, wheelchairs, beds, etc. Currently serve 150 families.
medicaid service coordinator - herkimer, oneida and lewis counties. Msc's must possess a bachelors degree. This program is designed to help people with developmental disabilities live independent and productive lives in the community. Msc's provide assistance and advocacy in many areas including day habilitator programs, residental placements, recreational activities, financial supports, respite services and support groups. Msc's assist consumers with community inclusion, joining groups or organizations and promoting relationships in the community. Currently serve 220 families.
