personal care - fairhaven rovides intermediate level of care when residents need help with some activities of daily living but do not require 24 hour skilled nursing care that encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence. At its 35 personal care unit facility, fairhaven had 12,133 personal care census days during the current year, which was approximately 33 personal care residents served per day.
skilled nursing - fairhaven provides quality nursing care in a comfortable health care center. This level of care is available on both a long term and short term basis and provides for 24 hour skilled nursing care. At its 79 bed skilled nursing facility, fairhaven had 21,473 skilled nursing care census days during the current year, which was approximately 59 skilled nursing care residents served per day.
fairhaven extends charity care and other support to residents, who meet certain criteria under its benevolent care policy and are unable to pay for services, at all levels of care as needed and when appropriate without charge or at amounts less than its established rates. Because fairhaven does not pursue collection of amounts determined to be benevolent care, they are not reported as resident service revenues. Fairhaven maintains records to identify and monitor the level of benevolent care it provides. The estimated costs of providing benevolent care is based upon the direct and indirect costs identified with the specific benevolent care provided. The cost of the benevolent care provided amounted to approximately $767,000 in 2016 and $960,000 in 2015. A portion of these costs were subsidized by the resident assistance funds.
