Mission: Fairfield behavorial health services (fbhs) is a non-profit outpatient treatment facility. One of 32 county substance abuse authorities created by the south carolina act of 1973. In 1979, fairfield county designated fbhs as the sole county authority for alcohol and drug abuse services. Fbhs is accredited by the commission on accreditation for rehabilitation facilities (carf), licensed by dhec and partners with the sc daodas, the behavorial health services association, united way of the midlands, fairfield county chamber of commerce, university of south carolina, winnsboro rotary club, fairfield community coordinating council, faith based community and many others.
Programs: Fbhs provides clinical assessments, individual, group and family counseling, referrals, school-based prevention programs, faith-based initiatives, community outreach, an annual 5k walk/run and annual recovery month activities. Annually, fbhs provides evidence-based and best practice prevention, intervention and treatment services to approcimately 3300 fairfield county residents and others as appropriate. The prevention services meet the needs of special populations by conducting needs assessments to determine the risk and protective factors of a particular community prior to implementation. The treatment services meet the needs of individuals by completing a thorough assessment to determine the level of care needed to begin a lifestyle of recovery. These services may require a combination of educational interventions as well as behavioral, cognitive, and/or medical therapies. Fees are charged for treatment services but no one is denied services for their inability to pay. Specific programs include mandated or volunteer classes/groups for alcohol education, tobacco education, merchant education for retailers that sell alcohol, tobacco education, refusal skills development program for youth, violence prevention and conflict resolution for students, dui & department of transportation relicensing classes, offenders, level ii. 1 intensive outpatient program (brighter day), gambling addicition, smoking cessation as well as on-site drug screening and an employee assistance program.

Fairfield behavioral health services provides intervention, treatment, and recovery-support capabilities services to all ages based on the client's ability to benefit from services rendered. We believe that services will be more beneficial to all clients with involvement of family or significant other. Fairfield behavioral health services' intervention and treatment services include intakes and screening, assesment, treatment planning, crisis counseling, individual, group, and family counseling, structured groups, discharge planning, follow-up, after care, as well as referrals to impatient treatment, self-help groups and other community service providers, organizations and businesses as needed. Treatment planning involves acquiring relapse skills, random urine drug screens, and providing rehabilitative psychosocial services. Rehabilitative psychosocial services aims to assist persons served in developing interpersonal, socialization basic living, and empowerment skills to change their behaviors and sustain recovery. Fairfield behavioral health services uses effective therapeutic modalities/evidence based practices to provide services to include motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, family group counseling, motivational enhancement and self-empowerment, structured socialization skill activities, rational emotive therapy, matrix. Treatment services is provided by licensed, trained, and certified staff.
