My family and I have been blessed to be involved with the F. Ruth Moore VSO for approximately 25 years. And it is just just that, a "Volunteer Service Organization". 100% of funds received go to the children in the neighborhood and we volunteer are services.

The Sunday before the Christmas Party, volunteers gather and we pack the sack lunches and stuff the stockings for the children, we average 1000 - 1500 lunches and stockings!!! The Monday of the party the volunteers arrive at the school in the morning. We unload the trucks of toys and arrange them on the stage along with the stockings The lunches are placed in each seat.

Then the fun begins, the buses arrive and the children enter. They are entertained and have a fun filled program. When the curtains are drawn and Santa walks down the aisle OMG! ! ! The excitement is overwhelming .

Each child walks on stage and receives a "new" toy and the stocking filled with goodies. When you see the smiles and hear the "thank you's", your feet and back no longer ache and you thank God for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful organization.

The F. Ruth Moore VSO makes it possible for thousands of children who would not normally receive anything for Christmas; have a day of excitement and receive a new toy and have a early Christmas.

Lastly, there are years when we have excess lunches and toys. The lunches are taken to skid row and the toys are given to other organizations that assist children in need.

What a blessing the F. Ruth Moore Volunteer Service Organization is to our community.

If you could only see the smiles on the faces of the children who receive the love, gifts and attention during the holdiays from the F. Ruth Moore organization. Then you would understand how important and how needed this organization is. I have been a volunteer but my role in small in comparison to the selfless love and support from the F. Ruth Moore family. Be Blessed!

I have been involved with this organization for over 25 years.. The look on the kids face at Christmas time when gifts and food are passed around, the gratefulness in the voices of all the volunteers and most of all the presence of God that surrounds all involved in giving and those involved in receiving. We thank God for F. Ruth Moore and continue to give him thanks for Michelle Moore Sanders continuing her great and wonderful legacy .
