Causes: International, International Migration & Refugee Issues
Mission: Eyes on refugees is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit comprised of people who make time to help those humans who need it most, those fleeing war and facing the realities of displacement. We are ordinary people who have been touched deeply by the atrocities of war. All of us feel a deep responsibility to help our fellow humans who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in crisis. With that in mind, we work to help newly resettled refugees secure the support and resources they need. Our organization's motto is: save one, save a generation.
Programs: Eor has identified a gap once a refugee hits the 4 month mark or beyond in ma. The resettlement agencies set them up with foods stamps, snap, wic, an apartment and a low paying job that is not skill matched. After 3 months the agencies have to direct their attention to other families. These government resources as mentioned above require rigorous recertification from the refugee family. We have seen many hungry refugees, many families in inhabitable apartments and on the verge of eviction because they cannot afford rent or don't know they are responsible to pay it or how to get a bank account to write a check for it. Thus we pick up where the agency left off and empower the refugees to assimilate easier into their new world.
