Causes: Education
Mission: The mission of Everybody Wins! is to increase children’s prospects for success in school and in life through one-to-one reading experiences with caring adults or older students. Since its founding in 19991, Everybody Wins! has aimed to provide students a path to a better future by fostering within them an interest in reading, the first step towards literacy, academic achievement, and personal success. Its flagship program, Power Lunch, pairs adult volunteers with elementary school students to read aloud with them during the students’ lunchtime at their schools, at no cost to the participating schools. Other programs include Readers are Leaders, which pairs upper-grade students with younger students for weekly read-aloud sessions; Page Turners, where a group of volunteers take turns reading to a classroom of kindergarten students and Book Clubs where middle-school students participate in book discussions. It is part of our core belief that in the increasingly complex world in which we live, having a literate, educated population is essential to our nation’s future.
Programs: Our flagship program, Power Lunch, matches adult volunteers with an elementary school child to read aloud to them over lunch at their school.
