Essilor Vision Foundation strives to eliminate poor vision and its lifelong consequences. Its programs are geared to providing free eye exams and glasses to elementary schoolchildren whose families could not afford them otherwise. About one in four children have a vision problem and, in most low-income areas, children do not get the eyeglasses they need. As a result, they suffer academically and socially, and are put at risk of dropping out of school and getting into trouble with the law.
The foundation takes a mobile vision clinic directly to schools so kids won't have to wait for their parents to take them to the eye doctor. It also goes to family events.
