Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: The EPN began as a grassroots effort in 1995 by concerned horsepeople who were determined to make a difference for abused, neglected and slaughterbound horses. In 1999 the EPN became incorporated as a non-profit organization under the name, Equine Placement Network. Our name was later changed to the Equine Protection Network. In 2001 the EPN was approved for 501c(3) status. The EPN's Board Of Directors has over 100 years of combined experience in the horse industry. Members of the EPN board have directed much of their efforts to having current laws in New York banning the use of double deck cattle trailers to transport horses enforced and the enforcement of current laws in Pennsylvania requiring horses be provided with necessary food, water and veterinary care and access to shelter. The EPN website consists of over 250 pages aimed at educating the public, news media, law enforcement and horse owners on the issues of horse slaughter and horse abuse.
