Programs: Discrimination in law program:the overall objective of the discrimination in law program is to revoke laws that discriminate against women and girls and implement laws that protect against gender-based discrimination. Efforts in 2014 resulted in:denmark, niger, suriname and vanuatu amending their nationality laws to remove sex discrimination and jordan taking steps to improve the lives of affected familiesthe united nations general assembly issuing a historic resolution calling for concrete action by member states to end child, early and forced marriage as a member of girls not brides, equality now contributed to the resolutionsierra leone pledging to ratify the protocol on the rights of women in africa (maputo protocol) following a solidarity for african women's rights (soawr) advocacy mission to the country equality now is the secretariat of soawrtraining of 178 legal practitioners from 29 african countries on the effective use of the maputo protocol and other human rights mechanisms in their cases

female genital mutilation (fgm) program:the overall objective of the fgm program is to enact and enforce laws against female genital mutilation in all countries where fgm may be practiced. Efforts in 2014 contributed to:first ever prosecution for fgm in egypt via our adolescent girls legal defense fund (agldf) case to get justice for soheir al-bateathe indonesian ministry of health revoking a regulation that allowed medical professionals to perform fgmkenya realizing some of the highest global fgm prevalence rate drops (unicef) and the government forming a dedicated anti-fgm prosecution unit arizona and new jersey enacting fgm laws in line with u. S. Federal laws and policies and the government conducting a prevalence study on the scope of fgm in the u. S.

donor direct action ( dda ):donor direct action raises funds to support the work of women's rights organizations around the world and works to increase their visibility and strengthen their voices in the international community. Areas of focus include sex trafficking, female genital mutilation, women and armed conflict, women's rights under law, and violence against women. Donor direct action currently partners with organizations in afghanistan, congo, india, nepal, nigeria, palestine, somalia, and syria. Effective december 31, 2014, dda split off from the organization and became a project of another 501(c)(3) organization.
