The fond du lac area association of commerce has been fighting for the economic viability of our business community since 1912. No other entity represents nearly 900 businesses, equal in value to $1 billion of payroll, in the fond du lac area. We are empowered by. . . The nearly 900 members of our organization to promote the free enterprise system. We function through. . . A 16-member board of directors and a 13 person staff. We are dependent upon. . . Committed volunteers to assist in the execution of our mission through service on a variety of committees. We serve the business community of the fond du lac area.
Programs: School to work program: fond du lac works is the first coordinated community effort to address the skilled worker shortage. Professional research of the fond du lac area workforce consistently demonstrates a shift in demographics which places the entire community in an immediate and critical situation; there will simply not be enough competitively skilled workers to fill available jobs in the future without aggressive solutions being developed and implemented now. To date, many volunteers have come together to work on development of initiatives which support three main focus areas of: workforce recruitment, retention of existing workforce and development of talent through education and training.
ag ambassador program: the fond du lac area agricultural ambassador program was developed out of a need to educate and inform adults and youth about the production and nutritional value of agricultural products produced in our community or state, as well as the impact agriculture has on our daily lives. The agriculture ambassador presents various educational programs in schools free of charge. Topics include: health and nutrition, consumer buying habits, food safety, economics, agricultural careers and agricultural production.
leadership fond du lac program: leadership fond du lac is a community-based program that provides information and experience to individuals willing to make a lasting commitment of service to the city and county of fond du lac. Qualified applicants begin the nine-month program in september with an overnight retreat. Right away, the class starts on team building skills, and discusses how they can have an impact on the community through their group project. The class meets once a month to learn more about the community, its unique challenges and strengths, through presentations, role playing, tours and other activities. Classes prepare the leaders to fill roles that will contribute to a healthier, more vital community for many years to come. Leadership fond du lac participants are a diverse group of individuals from all sectors of the business community, with big titles or no title at all. They share one thing in common: a desire and willingness to commit to serving their community and a dedication to the power of teamwork.
