Mission: Eac's mission is to protect and enhance the natural environment of west marin
Programs: Our work strives to provide long-term protection and conservation of the unique ecosystems and rural communities of west marin, and serves as a foundation of environmental protection for future generations. We provide an essential voice on behalf of the areas priceless natural resources before the many boards, commissions, and agencies of county, state, and federal government regarding environmental issues facing our coastal communities. These communities are gateway towns to three national parks, three state parks, open space, agricultural lands and private land that require intimate knowledge and understanding of policy, science and law to help protect wildlife, habitat, watersheds, wilderness, and the coastline so future generations and can experience and enjoy them for years to come.
4coastal resource protectioneac monitors the proposed land-use plans, development proposals, and creates educational materials for the public about west marins unique coastal resources. Marin county has been updating the coastal protection policies that implement the california coastal act, called the local coastal program, as well as the development code provisions that implement the policies. Since 2008, marin county community development agency, planning commission and board of supervisors have proposed policy and code changes, which are substantial. These changes make up the local coastal program amendment document. While some important improvements are proposed to marins coastal protection regulations, like improved storm water management best practices, significant deficiencies remain. Eac continues to engage and advocate vigorously for environmental protections at least equal to those currently in place. This program has continued into 2016. In addition, eac continued to monitor the development permit for lawsons landing, inc.
