Mission: The mission of the English Center is to realize the participation of international women and men in the social, political and economic opportunities of the 21st century world. Through English language, technology and career readiness training, we foster cross-cultural communication and career advancement, enabling non-native speakers of English to achieve their fullest potential.
Results: Since founding in 1977, the English Center's services have helped over 5,000 immigrants, refugees and international students achieve their fullest potential in their careers, college and in life.

Programs: The English Center's Career Readiness Program serves the immigrant and refugee population of San Francisco's East Bay communities. In addition to classroom training in English, technology and career readiness, CRP provides vocational counseling, internship placement, job placement and retention services. CRP enrolls 100 students at a time in 16, 24 or 32 week programs throughout the year. The English Center's Academic and Professional Program serves non-native English speakers whose academic or professional goals require advanced English language proficiency. Many participants are prospective or enrolled undergraduate or graduate university students. Others are professionals who wish to gain mastery over English to improve their workplace performance or expand their career options. The English Center can also be hired to provide group customized training at local businesses whose international employees need to enhance their English skills to fulfill their potential in the workplace.
