Mission: Our primary mission is to provide support and funding for projects that promote basic education and literacy. We want to ensure that all children in our community have books at home, regardless of the environment in which they live.
Results: We have provided free books every month to more than 700 children under the age of 5. Parents of children in the Imagination Library program increase the amount of time that they read to their children. Reading aloud to children at a young age can positively impact a child's brain development: When preschool children listen to stories, the areas of their brains that are associated with processing images and narrative comprehension are activated. Children who participate in the Imagination Library program scored higher on measures of kindergarten readiness and literacy assessments, even into third grade.
