Mission: To promote electrical safety awareness in the home and workplace in order to reduce the number of injuries, fatalities and fires caused by electrical accidents each year. Esfi partners with corporations, industry organizations, community leaders, and the media to develop key resources and disseminate consistent electrical safety messages to help raise awareness among stakeholders about the importance of electrical safety in the home and the workplace.
Programs: Fema assistance to firefighters (fire prevention and safety grant):the fire prevention and safety grant provides fire prevention resources to at-risk elderly populations. In 2017 esfi was awarded its first grant in five years totaling $350,000 for fy2016 fire prevention and safety. This grant help esfi continue our already outstanding communications and social media growth but also help create three new programs for cooking, heating, and electrical safety.

national electrical safety month campaign:esfi spearheads an annual campaign to educate key audiences about the steps that can be taken in order to reduce the number of electrically related fires, fatalities, injuries, and property loss. Program emphasized the changes in the 2017 national electrical code with a focus on the number of code revisions since the construction of the average american home, tamper resistant receptacles, ground fault circuit interrupters, surge protection, and preventing electric shock drowning.

Ground fault circuit interrupters $11,742through extensive research, esfi can replicate the methodology used by the consumer product safety commission to compare the number of gfci protected homes and the number of electrocutions caused by consumer products. Previous reports, which have been extensively used by nema and other organizations, have not been updated since 2002. Data has been collected regarding the adoption of gfcis and the drop of consumer product electrocution.
