Programs: The foundation was formed for the purpose of carrying out direct charitable activities of the haddock family as specified from time to time. Currently, the only activity of the foundation is the promotion of natural conservation and environmental protection, research, study and education through the direct conservation of land held by the foundation. The foundation is currently devoting its conservation efforts to 244 acres of undisturbed forestlands ("the lands") in madison county, north carolina that was donated to the foundation in october of 2011. The foundation's active conservation and preservation of the lands (including its biological diversity, ecosystems, and natural habitats) provides benefits to the public by preserving the natural heritage and resources of north carolina.
