Programs: One the EdLab Group's flagship programs is the National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP). The focus of the NGCP is to address the growing workforce demand for female scientists, engineers, and mathematicians in the United States, who have been, and continue to be, underrepresented in the sciences. The NGCP addresses the challenges of program sustainability and impact by building collaborations across organizations working toward a common goal. The NGCP has established 18 regional collaboratives in 30 states. This robust network represents over 7,800 girl-serving STEM organizations, K-12 educators, higher education, professional organizations, and businesses. These organizations are committed to encouraging girls to pursue careers in STEM. The NGCP has been structured to bring organizations together to compare needs and resources, share information and plan strategically to expand STEM-related opportunities for girls. A key collaboration tool is the online Program Directory, which currently contains 2,000 girl-serving STEM programs across the U.S. The Program Directory uses a framework to encourage programs to identify needs, resources, and collaboration interests. As NGCP grows, it continues to contribute to greater science and engineering literacy and workforce development.
