Causes: Botanical, Horticultural & Landscape Services, Environment
Mission: To encourage and promote horticultural programs and education; to organize, coordinate and support all efforts and activities concerned with the preservation, restoration and enhancement of edgerton park.
Programs: Restoring and preserving historic park and site for use and enjoyment of general public; restoring and preserving historic structures and monuments on park site; horticultural education, outreach program for greater new haven area schools; restoring, preserving, maintaining and staffing conservatory for public and school outreach;sponsoring and organizing forums and lectures available to public on horticultural subjects; maintaining and staffing horticultural library; preserving and restoring historic gardens; renting community garden sites to general public on non-profit basis; preserving and restoring historic greenhouses and renting greenhouse sections to general public on non-profit basis; providing indoor and outdoor space for cultural events (theatre and music) produced by non-profit groups.
