Mission: Ecologic Institute is an independent, non-profit center for environmental progress. Our organization is made up of a dedicated staff with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise which provide us with the ability to approach issues from varying perspectives. We believe this is key to addressing the environmental issues of the next generation, which is why one of our chief objectives is to inspire and engage members of the community who have not traditionally been involved in the process of environmental progress. In order to make that happen, we look for unexpected intersections of environmental and other areas of public life and policy, such as finance, accessibility, and art. Our events and publications are developed to reach as broad a constituency as possible without sacrificing forward-thinking ideas and innovations. In fact, we are certain our approach only makes the resulting ideas and initiatives stronger. Recruitment for our workshops focus on making sure members of the community is represented, not just political parties. We are committed to this process of building environmental progress through community-based initiatives. We have found that cities all across the world are confronting many of the same issues, so we have initiated programs for these cities to share their solutions with each other on a grassroots level. This helps to fulfill our goal of creating a global community of engaged citizens. With the ever-increasing urban populations around the world, cities must be the center of environmental progress, and we believe that empowering the people to drive that progress is the best way forward.

I have worked with and for Ecologic Institute Berlin and Washington for almost ten years. It's a pleasure working with these people. They are professionals with a mission. Lawyers, economists, political scientists, biologists, and several more professionals work together to find ways to halt environmental destruction and climate change. They are clearly dedicated to the cause. I would especially emphasize the role of Max Gruenig, the president of EI-USA. His leadership and energy are exemplary, being the heart and soul of the Washington branch of Ecologic Institute.

I had the pleasure of working with Max and Brendan and they are both amazing, caring, and very knowledgeable professionals. The Alliance Center co-hosted an all day workshop on Mobility for all in Denver. Ecologic brought experts from Germany and Sweden and with them, best practice information and cross-sector international experience that our workshop attendees appreciated very much. WE also brought together City of Denver representatives and had important conversations about strategies to get us on a road map towards sustainable mobility for all. The conversation was so enlightened, and full of diverse and rich backgrounds that our attendees left the workshop with new appreciation for new approaches to address the struggles of those from undeserved communities, strategic thinking towards international models that could be applicable to Denver, and new connections made during the workshop. We would love to collaborate again soon.

EcoLogic Institute (ELI) hosted a POCACITO - Post‐Carbon Cities of Tomorrow - delegation from Croatia and Munich, Germany in Atlanta September 17 and 18 for two whirlwind days of meetings, tours, and vibrant dialogue. Pre-visit ELI President Max Gruenig contacted Atlanta-based non-profit Elemental Impact (Ei) to assist with local introductions and logistics.

Ei was honored to co-host the final POCACITO event, the "From Circular Economy to Circular Society" Town Hall Meeting and secure event sponsorship with local flavor.

Mission accomplished: the European delegates and Atlanta industry leaders shared their circular economy-based challenges, successes, and lessons learned. Delegates and event attendees left inspired to further expand their impact on current and future projects and programs.

ELI builds connecting bridges between key American cities with prominent Europeans dedicated to moving towards a circular economy. Ei Founder Holly Elmore remains in contact with one of the Croatian delegates committed to building local food resilience via home and community gardens.

It was a pleasure to work with Max and his team. Ei hopes to further explore synergies within our respective important work.

I had a wonderful experience volunteering for the Ecologic Institute, US during the summer of 2015. I volunteered as a part-time intern in between my two years at graduate school and I gained experience that I am still using today. I was primarily responsible for the Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network (ELEEP). I kept up and expanded the social media accounts associated with ELEEP and contributed to the website eleep.eu. I created a Twitter account for ELEEP and generated about 600 followers and 105 applications to the network. I was also able to attend numerous press conferences and similar gathering to learn more about the environmental and energy policy being made in DC. I found Ecologic's staff to be extremely professional and experts in their particular fields. I was inspired to learn as much as I could from them during the short time I spent in DC. I highly recommend Ecologic to anyone looking to work with them.

I have had a wonderful experience working with Ecologic Institute on their partnership with Germany. No other nonprofit in my field has been so willing & eager to introduce new transatlantic concepts. I was fortunate to attend their study tour around Germany in 2017, and it was an experience that can't be beat. Ecologic Institute knows the ins&outs of sustainable development in Europe, and is bringing that to professionals across the US. What a cool program.

The Ecologic Institute is at the forefront of trans-Atlantic policy and technology innovation exchange. The staff in Washington and Berlin is superlatively competent and produces the right mix of sharp, analytic research that assesses ways for US communities to adopt sustainable development lessons from their counterparts in Europe. The Ecologic Institute has embedded into its DNA that relations across the pond are more than just events, but also l about outcomes that advance environmental protection, economic development and social inclusion in the United States.

I have had the pleasure of working with the Institute over the last several years. Extremely knowledgeable and well respected, the Institute helps provide critical information and informed opinions on the overarching issue of climate change. Just as important is the study tours they arrange to either bring experts to the United States and/or help inform up and coming policy makers on what is occurring on both sides of the Atlantic. Sharing best practices is critical to informing current and future decision-makers on the practical application of policies and programs. They have been immensely helpful to me as we work at our organization on these many issues.

The Ecological institute outlines one of its chief objectives as to inspire and engage members of the community who have not traditionally been involved in the process of environmental progress. I truly believe that the organization stands for this fully and has taken great strides in reaching out to people across the globe to involving people in discussion where the conversation wouldn't have happened otherwise. Having been invited as an Arctic summer college fellow, while being someone who grew up in India and had no direct connection but a deep passion for the Arctic, the Ecologic Institute provided me the opportunity to share my voice as a global citizen for a region which is a global common. The staff at Ecologic Institute are some of the best mentors I have found and I have made friends for life working with other fellows. This is an organization I have deep gratitude and respect for.

I edited a bit of the initial plan for Ecologic several years ago (I no longer do any work for the organization) and was so impressed I have kept up on all their work and reports. I recommend the institute's website to others who are interested in and committed to sustainability. It's an amazing educational and motivational resource carrying out groundbreaking studies and valuable initiatives in a mode that can truly change the world.

I had the honor and pleasure of participating in the POCACITO program. I found Ecologic Institute to be highly organized and value adding. During my POCACITO program, I joined other Americans working in energy and sustainable development to tour some of the world's best examples of sustainable development, in Germany. I shared ideas with the various German leaders that Ecologic Institute introduced me to and keep in touch with many of the German and American experts I met. I fully support Ecologic Institute's work.

No other think tank in Washington is better at making connections across the Atlantic to promote international dialogue and exchange of good practice in energy transformation and climate action. Ranging from making cities more sustainable to cooperation in the Arctic, Ecologic Institute leads with well-designed transatlantic civil-society dialogues and networks for young professionals that want to save the planet. Keep up the good work, Max and team!

As a lifelong Washingtonian, I'm immensely impressed that an organization can effectively encourage transatlantic dialogue while also being keenly aware of the needs of the local communities and spaces around it. An organization with breadth and depth is hard to find, I think Ecologic handles that dynamic marvelously.
