Mission: Support, promote and advocate for food producers and providers on eastern long island.
Programs: South fork kitchens: provides a fully licensed and equipped kitchen and storage space for small batch entrepreneurs and farmers wishing to process food for storage or sale as added value products. Afi also operates a caf which provides food and food education to faculty staff and students on the stony brook campus where the program is located.
amagansett farmers market: this is a retail market that afi operated as a showcase for local produce and food products and as a venue for educational programming. The retail market featured fresh produce and locally produced food goods, including food products made in our incubator kitchen. This program provided a series of educational events on issues such as seeds and seed saving, nutrition and wellness, avoiding food waste and the benefits of local food.
farm to food pantry: makes weekly pickups of excess produce from local farms and purchases fresh produce from local farms to donate to local food pantries.
