Causes: Homeless & Housing, Housing & Shelter
Mission: INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY TO AND PRESERVE HOMEOWNERSHIP, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON SERVING FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYERS AND LOW- AND MODERATE- INCOME PERSONS.
Programs: Homeownership preservation services - free workshops and individual counseling to help homeowners in financial crisis prevent foreclosure, as well as free reverse mortgage counseling to help senior homeowners objectively explore options to increase cash flow and maintain indepedence.
prepurchase and financial literacy services - free education classes and individual counseling to help first-time homebuyers and renters (particularly low-income households and other traditionally underserved populations) improve their financial management skills, make informed consumer choices and become responsible homeowners or renters.
community education and outreach - community education, outreach and collaboration on affordable housing issues, including coordination of the affordable housing breakfast group three times each year in cooperation with wheaton college.
