Causes: Mental Health, Substance Abuse Dependency, Prevention & Treatment
Mission: Our mission is to provide effective quality programs for children and adolescents, and their families experiencing problems with substance abuse and/or juvenile delinquency. We provide services in palm beach, st. Lucie, martin, indian river and okeechobee counties. We are committed to provide programs, which foster the skills necessary for individuals to be responsible, productive members of their communities. We envision a community that instills the importance of education, respect for self, life and property, empowering children and their families to reject drugs, violence and other criminal activity. Data recognizes that substance abuse affects every aspect of an individual's life and that effective programming will foster self-reliance, social competence and abstinence from substance abuse.
Programs: Residential - data operates two co-ed adolescent residential substance abuse treatment centers. The walter d. Kelly center located in west palm beach, florida and norman c. Hayslip center in fort pierce, florida. Admittance into residential programming requires meeting placement criteria as defined by the american society of addiction medicine. Our residential programming provides ongoing opportunities for adolescents to examine their substance dependence, learn effective coping strategies, and implement a plan of lifetime sobriety. Average stay is three to six months and includes individual, group and family therapy. Residents' continues their education while receiving treatment in our alternative school which is provided for by the local public school system. Our school allows students to continue, or in some cases resume, their academic studies while receiving treatment. Most of our residents experience academic success with us during their treatment. Successful completion of the program is based on: progressing academically, coming to terms with the impact drugs have had on the client's life and changing behavior that is not acceptable in society. Data served 131 clients with an average success rate of 61%.
outreach programs - services are provided through a formal program to both individuals and the community. Community services include education, identification, and linkage with high-risk groups. These services are designed to encourage, educate and engage prospective clients who show an indication of substance abuse problems or needs. Client enrollment is not included in outreach services. Data provides outreach services in the public school system and in other community settings and provided outreach services to 6,100 individuals. Additionally, data provides hiv outreach services which includes confidential testing, pre and post counseling hiv 104 certification education, community outreach and 27 enhancement groups. Data provided hiv individual risk assessments and 459 individuals received hiv education in a group setting.
onsite - therapeutic services and supports are rendered in non-provider settings that include public schools, detentions centers and other community settings. Services provided by data in school settings remove transportation issues as an obstacle to receiving treatment services. These services include the identification of youth at risk through individualized psychosocial assessment short-term individual, family and group counseling, and referral to appropriate services for youths that need more intensive services. It also may include science-based anger management and substance abuse education as forms of intervention. During the fiscal year 624 clients were served with an average success rate of 88%.
