Mission: The Heiken Memorial Fund, founded in 1993, was established to provide free comprehensive eye/vision care for children in Miami-Dade County Public School system that do not have insurance, Medicare, or any other means of acquiring the care they need. They must be on the free/reduce meal program at school. Vision "screenings" are mandatory in Florida. The benefit of this is lost without the provision of comprehensive vision exams and providing glasses. The Heiken Fund provides these services free of charge to the family of the student.
