Mission: The hospital auxiliary works to contribute to the excellence of the douglas county hospital, as well as the health issues and needs of the community at large.
Programs: In 2017, the douglas county hospital auxilary undertook numerous projects which contributed to the excellence of the hospital, as well as health issues and needs of the community. They are the following: supported the establishment of the marilyn weedman scholarship, participated in the annual "parade of trees" in cooperation with the runestone museum, donated to alexandria dollars for scholars, awarded five scholarships totaling $8,000. 00 adhering to the guide lines set in the douglas county hospital auxilary scholarship policy, committed to the "wings of hope garden project" which replaces the "tree of lights project," revised the meeting schedule of the douglas county hospital auxilary, and awarded over $9,000. 00 for medical equipment items which are for the new cardiology/echo stress of the newly opened specialty clinic within the hospital. Approximately 134 volunteers have given 16,163 hours of service to the douglas county hospital in 2017.
