Mission: Domestic violence solutions of santa barbara county is dedicated to providing safe harbor to all victims of domestic violence and their children throughout santa barbara county.
Programs: Domestic violence solutions is the only agency in santa barbara county, ca that provides emergency shelter and supportive services to all survivors of domestic abuse and their children including women, men and lgbt populations. Three shelters are operated in the cities of santa barbara, santa maria and lompoc. During fy 16-17, our three shelters provided 225 individuals (114 adults and 111 children) with 45 day emergency shelter. Our shelters also operate four crisis and information lines which answered 6,347 calls. Of those calls, 555 were emergency calls from police, emergency rooms and medical offices. During this period dvs provided a total of 4,692 critically needed "safety bed nights" to those individuals and their children at severe risk and fleeing their homes due to domestic violence.
Since beginning of 2013 there has been a lack of oversight regarding condition of shelters and fair treatment of clientele.
Managing staff and clinical supervisor do not encourage trauma sensitivity.
Clinical supervisor is a poor communicator, does not support clinical staff or provide a learning experience for intern therapists. Professional principles of clinical supervision are disregarded.
