Mission: The domestic abuse project dedicates its resources to breaking the cycle of violence and helping families transform to healthy and safe relationships.
Programs: Advocacy: advocates provide free, immediate assistance for victims and their families as they begin the process of transforming their lives to be free of violence. They offer essential information about shelter, community resources, intervention services, and legal recourse. The advocates are also present in the domestic violence criminal court hearings every day to offer support and information to victims of domestic abuse. Dap served 2,000 people during the year.
therapy: dap serves each member of the family, helping women and children to heal from the effects of abuse and to develop and use a plan for their future safety . The men's program consists of two sections and is designed to help adult men who have used abuse in an intimate relationship. A client is considered to have completed the program when he has finished both sections. The women's program works with adult survivors of domestic violence to help them understand the abuse as part of a larger, systemic issue, and to heal and move on. Dap offers both individual and group therapy services for youth who have experienced or witnessed domestic violence in their homes. Dap also works with adolescents who have witnessed abuse in their homes and have begun to use violence to family members or in their dating relationships. Dap served over 600 clients during the year.
