This really is the best rescue I’ve ever encountered. Lila Jean has a heart of gold, and is truly doing amazing things for animals, and humans. We were heartbroken when we lost our boy Piper. I didn’t think I’d have another dog until I talked to Lila. After several weeks of emails, which Lila responded to with such compassion and patience, I finally went to meet Lila. I instantly knew that a higher power sent her, and connected us to the amazing dog, Cookie, we eventually adopted from her. Not to mention, Lila gives everything she has to adopt, love and care for every animal, especially the ones who might not get adopted. If you can help Dogs in Harmony, do it, knowing it’ll go to very good use.

I've rescued 2 pups from them and Lila Jean has been very helpful with any questions I've had...Dogs in Harmony is one of the best, reliable, dependable, caring rescues I've come across. Lila and her wonderful team that run this rescue do such an incredible job helping these animals find their forever homes. As we all know, there’s an overwhelming amount of stray dogs and cats that need a home down south.. Many of these animals have been found living in squaller, have been beaten and neglected, lacked food, water and basic medical care.. Believe me, it’s no easy task getting these animals to safety, having them nursed back to health, and then tirelessly searching for a perfect home for them. I am in awe of how much time, energy, money, & blood, sweat and tears that Lila has spent on these beautiful creatures. She is the voice for these animals that have no voice to stand up and care for themselves. My family and I welcomed our family member, Kona, into our home 4 years ago. This sweet girl came from a horrific hoarding case with well over 100 animals living in deplorable conditions and were deprived of food/water/care. Many of these animals, unfortunately did not survive the long term suffering they had endured.. Thankfully Lila nursed Kona back to health after having parvo.. which we are so grateful and fortunate for. Now, 4 years later, our sweet, goofy, gentle, and stubborn girl is still living her best life with her fur brother and fur sister. Kona sleeps on top of the couch like our cats, and sun bathes on the patio furniture in the morning. She sleeps in our bed every night, (under the covers, yes she is a big baby), and wakes us up each morning with a wagging tail and kisses all over. We adopted three loving dogs from this owner since 2011 and she has become a great friend to us as well. I have never experienced such horrid things that a certain reviewer has said. Lila Jean took in a stray I had rescued from getting hit by a car. I took him to the vet paid the bill and she said if I needed help I could bring him to her. I wasn’t able to keep him as he was a puppy and needed someone who could be there. She opened her home rescue and love to this puppy I had named Luca.

Dogs in Harmony is an amazing rescue. I adopted my Hobo from this rescue in 2010, he was transported from Tennessee to Maine and my heart just exploded when he arrived. Hobo passed on 12/31/24 and he is greatly missed. If not for Dogs In Harmony, I would not have had the joy and love from the best boy ever.
I adopted my dog from this organization almost 10 years ago. I am very happy with the care they provided for my dog. Prior to adopting my dog, I had an interview with the owner and she was professional, kind and caring about the animals under her care. She said, if this (adoption) didn’t work out for any reason, bring the dog back to her. She didn’t want the dog to go to another animal shelter. Almost 10 years later, I am still grateful for the experience I had with the organization and the owner.
I live in Baltimore Maryland. I found Dogs in Harmony through the internet and I am so glad I did. I have gotten 2 wonderful dogs from this shelter. Both of these dogs were well taken care of and in excellent shape and excellent health when I received them. I got my 1st dog through

Adopted our dog from here in 2012. We were nervous as it was our first time adopting through a rescue. Lila Jean who runs the rescue was so helpful and basically talked us through everything and was so helpful and set up the transport as we live far from Tennessee. Our puppy arrived healthy and happy and up to date w all the shots she should have for her age.

We got our Sammy from Dogs in Harmony in June 2020. I don’t have enough good things to say about this organization. Lila Jean was thorough, responsive, knowledgeable, kept me up to date on everything happening with our boy from the time we signed the paperwork until he came into our home. Our 80lbs lapdog that I think believes is part cat (see photos) is the best boy we could ever ask for. We will be adopting from this rescue again in the future.

We rescued Maizie a little over a year ago. Lila Jean checks in on her and she did not jist send us a fog. In 2011 I lost my beautiful dog Puggy Sue to an immune immediated disease. I was so lost and knew I had to get another companion. I came across Dogs In Harmony and spoke to Lila Jean. She was a God send and helped me through my heartbreak and loneliness that I was going through. I got my beautiful Skyelyn from Dogs In Harmony a few months after losing Puggy Sue. Lila Jean was so sympathetic on my loss and answered all my questions, as I did with all her questions before she would adopt to me. I came to know Lila Jean through the years and always let her know how Skyelyn was doing. Unfortunately Skyelyn got old and she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge July of 2024. Lila Jean helped us through the loss of our beautiful girl. August of 2024 Kaylyn came into our lives, and September 2024 Kinlee came into our lives. Both of them from Lila Jean at Dogs In Harmony. Lila Jean is very compassionate for the furbabies she rescues and will always be there for those who adopt them from her. We are blessed with beautiful doggies and have a friend in Lila Jean. I have known Lila for many years. She is the kindest, most caring person (not only for the animals she has rescued) but for the people who adopt her incredible dogs, cats and horses! People in TN know what she does, and many times will “dump” pregnant dogs and new born pups near her, knowing she will take them, treat them and find loving homes for them. Lila Jean is an amazing woman, she puts her whole heart and soul into this non-profit. 10 years ago she helped us find our little girl Pinky. She was a great help, and helped my husband through the adoption process. Everything was smooth. Pinky was a doll! Loving and the sweetest little girl. She was well taken care and loved by Lila. Lila Jean at Dogs in Harmony is a wonderful soul who truly loves animals! We found our sweet JJ on her site and immediately started the process. Lila Jean spoke to me on the phone for awhile and then had me fill out all the necessary paperwork. She explained all the shots he would get, the microchip, the neutering process, and the transportation to get him up north where we live. She was amazing!!!! Lila the owner is an absolute God send and essential rescue shelter for homeless, negected and mistreated animals in Tennesee. Hi! We began our relationship with Dogs In Harmony and Lila Jean about 9 years ago when she gave us the beautiful gift of our beloved beagle Lilli. Lilli was the love of our lives until December last year when she was diagnosed with spleen cancer and we had to put her down. We were devastated for 4 months and felt a huge void in our home. I reached out to Lila last month as we decided to adopt another dog. She introduced us to another beagle girl named Cassie. We just adopted her and brought her home a week ago. She is a precious girl and getting more comfortable with her new home. I cant say enough about Lila and her rescue. A Perfect Match, Thanks to Dogs in Harmony
After losing our beloved cat Bugsy—my sweet love bug of 19 years—I was devastated. Bugsy was a Russian Blue mix and a rescue, and I never thought I’d find another soul like his. Our home felt painfully empty without him, and our Great Dane, Rocco, who had been raised by Bugsy, was grieving just as much as we were. He had lost his best friend, and it showed in every moment.
We didn’t think we were ready to bring another pet into our lives—especially not so soon. But then we saw a photo of Vinny, posted by Dogs in Harmony, and something in our hearts shifted. His story was unforgettable: a cat who had been dropped off at a dog shelter, and somehow made his way through the doggie door... choosing to stay and make himself at home. That alone tugged at our hearts.
But what truly stopped us in our tracks was that Vinny looked exactly like Bugsy—right down to his piercing eyes and sleek coat, with just one small white spot on his chest to tell them apart. It felt like fate.
We reached out to Lila at Dogs in Harmony immediately. Within 12 hours, our application was completed, and Lila was making sure we were the purrfect fit for Vinny. The adoption process was smooth, caring, and incredibly thoughtful from start to finish. Lila even coordinated Vinny’s journey all the way to us in Massachusetts.
Now, just over a year later, Vinny has completely filled the space that once felt so empty. He fits into our lives as if he had always been part of the family—and watching him bond with Rocco has been pure magic. Our hearts are full again.

I had first seen my dog online, and fell in love with her pictures. I contacted the owner, Lila, who then explained everything about my pup, like how she lived, she was left outside for over 6 yrs, fed trash, beat, multiple litters of puppies, never let in during snow, not taken care of. Lila was the one who helped rescue my baby with the cops and cut the collar off my dog, which was imbedded in her next. Sadly, due to issues my dog had, like heart worm positive, and cuts and places around neck with no hair growing, Lila had to have my dog at her rescue for a yr to help her get healthy and feel safe. Lila did an extensive background check on me, including calling our vet to make sure we take care of our animals (I have always had cats), and even talking to some of my references. Lila cared for my dog while she was at her rescue and made sure she was taken care of and taken to the vet as needed. My pup was also one of the many that would sleep in the house, even on a bed. She witnessed kindness and love when she was at Lila's, after only knowing hurt and pain from her original owners. Lila makes sure that the people she use to transport these loving animals, takes care of them and does potty/food breaks when they need it, and are safe in the van.
For a dog who had only grown up outside on a leash, Lila had her potty trained on pee pads in the house and mostly where to go outside. Getting our dog from Lila was the best thing, as now our dog (who we got from Lila when she was 8) is now 15, and very loved and spoiled. I tell everyone I know about how Lila is amazing and is trying to rescue all these abused animals in TN area. I send everyone to her, and highly recommend her. Even after the pets are adopted, if you are ok with it, Lila likes to keep in touch and see pictures of all the animals she has saved thrive and be loved. I have put videos on from Lila's private page, and the sound of her voice makes my dog go crazy with happiness, where she will start wagging her tail and excitedly look around for Lila. That in itself shows me how much love she gives all of the animals she is rescuing. She is the one that takes them when they have lived at their worst, and shows them kindness and love, and help find them their happy forever home. It takes a special kind of person to do this, and at Dogs In Harmony, Lila is one of those special people. We need more rescue places that are like Lila's. I also love that she doesn't just hand pets off, but she thoroughly vets possible pet owners. I have been able to see pictures and stories of other animals she has rescued and watch them as they grow and share their stories with Lila and all of us adopters. Lila treats all possible adopters with kindness as well, and helps us understand the whole process, and lets us know and have as much back story as well can with our animals. And makes sure to give all paperwork to us that she has. The most important part, I believe of a rescue group, is how they treat these fragile animals that they have just rescued from mostly horrible homes, which is all they have ever known, and try and show them love and respect. Lila gets an A++ on that part with me. I have seen her help even the most abused animals to feel love and to trust someone again.

Lila was so helpful and the communication during the adoption was always readily available. She loves what she does and the animals that end up at her rescue are the lucky ones. I got my dog from Dogs in Harmony 3 years ago! Lila Jean was so helpful and responsive. From the moment I met her, I knew she was in the business for all of the right reasons! I've dealt with many rescues over the years. We adopted a sweet blue nose staffy and a Senior American Bull dog from Lila. The petite little staffy is as sweet as can be. Her personality is everything I was told. The senior stole my heart at hello. We were blessed with 18 months of his pure gentleman nature. I miss him every day. I've referred many people to this rescue. I will surely call on Lila in the future!
I have to write and say that Dogs In Harmony is the best rescue of any I have worked with. Being a groomer, every so often there is a little dog that gets thrown away or pushed away when an elderly owner passes and no one wants the little dog that has been so devoted all its life that simply needs a special place to go to a one in a million special person to find it a good forever home. Usually, I am maxed out and I try and do my part but when i called on Dogs In Harmony, Ms Lila was there with open arms. The care and work can often be emotionally draining with all the abandoned and neglected and sometimes abused dogs and puppies. Sometimes overextended and all to often low on donations but Ms Lila is steadfast and solid as a rock with a heart of pure gold. God richly blessed us with Her Dogs In Harmony rescue center. I pray she never stops. I cannot praise her and her rescue center enough. She is just incredible, Thank you Lila for all you do for the puppies and dogs.

I fell in love with Lila and Dogs in Harmony about 5 years ago when I read a rescue story that had been posted on Facebook. Lila had driven over 3 hours in sleet and snow to handle a very bad situation of abuse and abandonment involving a litter of puppies. She rescued the puppies and brought them home. They were very sickly and required round the clock care. Lila provided all of the love, nurturing, worrying and care any mother could provide. These were long, tiresome, thankless hours. Just like the ones she always gives to each and every one of her rescues. She spends money from her own pockets for their care and food. She is truly one of God’s angels placed here on earth to help as many animals as she can. She has blessed many with her love and cried tears of sorrow for the ones she could not save. When I was looking for a dog online I found my Trixie. Little did I know she was in TN. Dogs in Harmony transported her to nearby CT where I was able to pick her up. Trixie is a wonderful loving girl. She was already trained and housebroken with all her vaccinations when I got her. I would definitely go to them should I decide to get another dog. Lila Jean who runs the rescue clearly dedicates her heart and soul to caring for all the animals she’s able to take in and she has an uncanny knack for pairing just the right pet with each family. The vet care Maggie received before she came home to me was beyond any expectations I had. Her paperwork was impeccable and even after a long transport ride, I could tell how well she was cared for. Throughout the years, Lila Jean shared every moment of Maggie’s life with our family, including her passing at 12 years of age this past August. We got our puppy from Dogs in Harmony 9 years ago. She was born at the rescue to a dog that had been abandoned when the owners moved. The owner of the rescue gave us lots of great training advice and this has been the best dog we've ever had. Couldn't be happier
This lady is a wonderful person you should should see some of the condition dogs came to her in . They look totally different healed and healthy ..Terrible skin issues, very poor health starving,and simply broken mentally. She has been accused of stealing dogs and worse maybe the person that seems to want to continue to slander her would like to take some of these animals and take care of them . To be honest I wouldn't blame anyone if they stole a dog in the kind of conditions they were in . Someone has to save them .
These are my 2 babies Oliver and Mr. Littles, Lila rescued them and nursed them to health from a really bad state, they were so little and helpless, now living a spoiled life here in MA, Lila was ble to get them to me all the way from TN. She has saved so many animals and is amazing at it. I am so grateful there is someone like her rescuing these babies that are dumped or abused, she spends her life devoted to helping these animals that have no voice and advocationg for them. My husband & I adopted 2 dogs four years ago from Dogs In Harmony. These dogs had lived their lives outside in a hoarding situation with 200 dogs prior to being rescued by DIH. This rescue provided such care to these fur babies. They were completely vetted, spayed/ neutered, shots, dental work. Whatever they needed was taken care of prior to adoption. We fell in love with our fur babies & also this rescue. It's amazing place with lots of love & care for the animals. The rescue loves updates & she remembers every dog & cat ever adopted out. Truly amazing place.
Such a great organisation. Not many out there can do what Lila Jean does. She had saved countless animals from certain death. She adopts to great people. Her Resuce animals are loved and cared for till they find their furever home. Rescue isn’t for the lighthearted. You may see a couple people say bad things but don’t believe it, she is amazing. Will do anything to save an animal, and she does daily. If you are looking to adopt a sweet furbaby I highly recommend dogs in harmony. I love Lila Jean and and her mission and what she believes in.

Can not say more about how amazing Lila Jean and Dog In Harmony are. I found her via a pet adoption site and was so easy to work with. Not only that but rare to find now a days someone who care about animals and people. I adopted Hank who is now named Chase for my 5 year old daughter, and he is truly amazing. Lila Jean made sure that he was up to date with all of his medical and healthy before we got him, help train him to walk on a leash and had him chipped. We adopted Lady Belle (formerly Lynda Layne) from Dogs In Harmony. She is a Treeing Walker Coonhound and is just the best dog. Adopting from Dogs In Harmony was a smooth and easy process from initial contact to pickup from the transport. There was excellent communication and it was real and true information given about the dog. She has fit into our family perfectly and is a great companion. I had been looking for a dog for a long time. I most interested in a GSD but saw a Border Collie on Adopt a pet web site. I made a inquirey and was contacted by Lila Jean from Dogs In Harmony. I had a long talk with her and she answered all my questions. I decided to apply for this Border Collie and the adoption was approved. The whole process was straight forward and easy. Lila was very good on when to ship Phoebe. I got her safe and sound and she was just as Lila Jean discribed her. She was very clear about everything and had a fully detaiked envelope with all her info. I couldn't be more pleased. Phoebe settled right in and within a week was a solid part of the family. I can't say enough good things about Lila Jean and Dogs in Harmony.
We adopted Fuji - now known as Monty to our family on 12.3.23. It was by far the easiest adoption we've ever had! Everything went smoothly from the initial communication to pick-up! I can't say enough positive things about my experience adopting a pup from Dogs In Harmony/Lila Jean! I've been casually looking for a pup for 2 years and I don't know if it was Curley's (now Olli) big ears or sweet face but I just knew he was the pup for us. I originally saw his brother's photos and a video of all 3 puppies. Lila Jean made the process so easy and even after picking Olli up, has continued to check on us and his wellbeing. She really strives to ease the adoption process and sets her adopters up with realistic expectations. If you are looking for a pup to adopt, I'd highly recommend Dogs in Harmony!
When my wife and I started looking for a rescue dog we looked locally for almost a year and did not find a good match. My wife found Dogs in Harmony and saw Missy. I inquired and meet Lila who gave me so much more than I ever could have asked. The experience was and continues to be excellent. Missy, renamed Riley, has only been with us a few days and we found her to be in perfect health, well groomed, and it is obvious she was well cared for while at Dogs in Harmony. We were looking for a GSP and LJ delivered (literally)! She was extremely well organized and very thorough, taking her time on the phone with me explaining everything I needed to know about our soon to be 10 mo old pup. LJ was honest, as our girl came exactly as what I expected from my conversations with LJ prior to adoption day. 1st we Just loved the video of the dog that we were interested in. We saw her playing with a cat so we decided we needed a cat too! Lila picked out the perfect cat for our new dog. She gave us tons of information, she even had done a DNA test so we we knew exactly what we were getting. The process was quick and easy and we are all in love with our new family members! The operator has been charged and convicted of dog theft. Stole a dog from a neighbor and it is gone. We are missing many dogs in our area, they just seem to disappear. This operator ships her dogs out of the area? She has made threats to people that want to expose her for what she is doing. The operation has never complied with zoning variance given. They operation has lied about damage done by a tornado and raised money for it (there was no tornado in that area at that time).
I would highly recommend dogs in harmony. I have adopted 2 beautiful healthy fur babies from here. Lila is a hard working,kind hearted lady. The dogs I adopted were healthy,well mannered ,potty trained and have brought more joy than I can explain . I have recommended to several others that were looking to adopt. I adopted 1 year apart and both dogs were more joy than I could ask for. The vet I use also complimented on the dogs nails , well done pedicure!
My boyfriend and I adopted our dog from Lila and the Dogs In Harmony team in April 2022. Lila was incredibly friendly, caring, and knowledgeable right from the very first interaction. We could tell that she not only cared deeply for animals, but that she would do whatever it took to rehabilitate sick and/or abused dogs that were brought to her farm. We adopted our dog, Sonny, from Lila when he was just about 4 months old. Before bringing him home, we had about an hour long conversation with Lila where she debriefed us on everything we could possibly need to know about our soon-to-be puppy. She spared no expense with the details to make sure we were completely informed and prepared. She also made sure we knew that she was just a phone call away if we ever had any questions or concerns in the future. He had all of his shots, his medical records were up to date, and he was neutered and microchipped when we got him. You hear a lot of stories about dogs who were adopted from shelters that are very skittish, distrusting of humans, and reactive to other dogs because of the poor conditions they have been in. The first time we met Sonny, he was instantly loving and very at ease. We were shocked at how calm his temperament was and how easily he trusted us. He was (and is) the absolute sweetest and most gentle boy we could have ever imagined. It really proved that he was raised with nothing but love and kindness from Lila and her team. We recommend Dogs In Harmony to everyone that asks us! We cannot brag about our experience enough.
Adopted a dog from here almost 7 years ago. She had some fear aggression issues and we were not able to deal with her. Lila kept in contact the entire time. We ended up having to send her back, which was the best decision all around. I was pretty sad it didn’t work out, but Lila was amazing and called me 2 weeks later and said “ I have the perfect dog for you” Darn if she didn’t! We have had Boo ever since and he is 100% the perfect dog for us. I keep in touch with Dog in Harmony over FB because we are many states away. Lila is an amazing person, with a heart for animals as big as TN. The first dog I got didn’t work out, but the fact that she worked with me for a solution speaks volumes. She cares about these animals even after they leave her care. A True Animal person! Theirs rescue is more than just a shelter it’s a family/ safe haven.

My Dog Boo came from Dogs in Harmony. I had seen a different dog on Pet Finder and Adopted her.... things didn’t work out between us. She had fear, anxiety and aggression that I didn’t know how to handle ( probably from her previous owner) Lila at Dogs in Harmony talked to me every day. We finally both decided it was best for the female dog to go back to her, as she just wasn’t the right fit, or wasn’t ready for adoption. I can not even begin to describe how Awesome Lila was, through the whole thing. So we sent this dog back to her, and I was sad things didn’t work out.... 2 weeks later, Lila calls and says “I have the perfect Dog for you!” Of course I was worried that maybe it was not the dog, but I was not destined to be a dog owner. Then I met Boo! He literally IS the perfect dog for us. I just can’t imagine life without him. Even my husband (who didn’t want a dog and hates little dogs) Loves him. At Dog in Harmony, Lila truly Loves all the dogs, she knows their personalities and cares about them getting the best home. She went above and beyond with the first dog. That dog later got adopted and is doing great. We just were not the right fit. She matched us up with the perfect pup and we are forever grateful!
Dogs in Harmony is one of the best rescue nonprofits out there they go above and beyond to save dogs that have been dumped tortured and abused she's sees abuse that none of us would ever want to see yet she continuously takes these animals in and does everything in her power to give them the care they need to get them healthy and find them good homes there is a place in Heaven for her that's for sure!!!
I adopted my shi tsu from Dogs in Harmony in 2017. Lila was great. She was caring, thoughtful, informative and made sure my dog was going to a good home. She followed up a few times with me. My dog, Saorise , is the greatest. She is so sweet and well trained. Everyone comments how lucky I am to have gotten her. I took in a dog in need and got him to his ideal weight and got all of his shots. I did some basic dog training for him as well.
After several months I realized he was not a good fit with my dogs and my family.
I reached out to Dogs in Harmony and they kept him for several months and placed him in a family where he is thriving. They really care about the dogs and cats they take into their facility. I believe this is truly their calling! They do amazing work!
Lila is a very big hearted person who dedicates her life to saving as many dogs and cats as she can. It is an uphill struggle many times but she works hard and saves many. She also does a wonderful job at matching the right pet to the right owner. I don't think she has a mean bone in her body. She matched me up with my cat Harold who has been a joy and exactly what I was looking for. I only wish that she gets the support she needs to keep doing her selfless work.
Lila Jean made the process of adopting my rescue dog incredibly hassle free. I tried local shelters but so much red tape, I was overwhelmed. My neighbor suggested Dogs in Harmony, Tennessee, where she got her pup.
Best decision yet! Although Boo Boo was timid, nontrusting of humans,
withdrawn , she soon became a different dog full of love.

We adopted our dog Auggie from the owner. She was amazing to deal with really cared about the animals. When I took Reese for her first checkup, my vet said he’d never seen a rescue in such good shape and with such good documentation. I got a puppy here 6 years ago. Best dog ever. This rescue goes above and beyond in caring for strays, abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. They get them healthy before they can be adopted. They also are available for support if there are any issues after adoption.
We adopted our Paco from Dogs In Harmony in June. Lila Jean goes above and beyond for the animals and for the adopters. She is meticulous in her immunization records and in her explanations about what and when each is given. She also knows the animals' habits well before you get them and she encourages you to call her anytime if you have any questions.

Lila Jean took the time to speak to me multiple times on the phone in order to determine exactly what my circumstances were and what I was looking for in a canine companion. Lila Jean was born to love abused, abandoned, ill, maimed, and homeless dogs. I was blessed to find this rescue and spoke multiple times to Lila Jean before I decided. She spent a lot of her valuable time speaking with me and answering questions. She even took a video at my request so I could see how my pup responded when called. She's an earth angel. I adopted my dog from Dogs In Harmony in 2016. We had previously adopted a rescue, and, she did not work out well for us. We had to find her a new home. I had a dog at home and this rescue had caused dog fights. I was reluctant to get another rescue. I found Dogs In Harmony online. I had several conversations with Lila Jean to discuss my concerns. There was a dog that was about three years old, a female, half Beagle and half Basset. She posted videos of her online, My main concern was her getting along with my other dog. We adopted two kittens, Rosey and Riley (Miracle), from Dogs in Harmony in January 2021. We lived in CT at the time, and they were brought up from TN. It was love at first sight!! Each cat had been rescued from the side of the road, and had been well cared for at the shelter. They’ve both grown a lot!! Rosey now weighs 15 pounds!! Riley is a bit smaller, weighing 11 pounds. We love our kitties!! We love our Lila Jean and the work she does!!

After Lila Jean provided her care and help develop her trust- she entrusted her care with me through a very through check to make sure I was the right placement. She also stayed in touch if I had any needs upon adoption given the needs. You can see from the pictures- Angel learned about love and found her forever home because the nonprofit put 100% into care and transition to adoption. I recently adopted my Yogi from Dogs In Harmony. He is a little 14 month terrier mix and I too was looking for a different breed of Dog. Lila was so attentive she answers all your question quickly no waiting for answers with her. These dogs are so lucky to have her as are we. I just can't say enough about her. I have talked to lots of people who have adopted through other rescues, they can't believe how thorough she is. She is awesome. I have only had Yogi for not even a week and love him so much. She seems to have a sense about a good match from application information and talking to applicants and following through and calling the vet and references. We are so happy and lucky to have adopted Louis. When we thought of our dream dog....we had a different image in our minds....but Louis is perfect for us. We feel so fortunate to have him. Dogs in harmony is amazing. The adoption process was so easy. After reviewing our application, we were called and screened They were so helpful , waked us through every step and answered all of our questions. They sent videos of our dog so we could see how she had grown. They didn’t push us for money they only wanted to place the dog in a loving home and make sure we were comfortable. I would recommend them highly. We love our dog.
Dogs in Harmony is the finest rescue I've ever been associated with. Lila Jean truly treasures the fur babies in her care and loves them like her own. We got our precious Pie from Lila a few years ago and drove down from our home in Ohio to get him at the Dogs in Harmony facility in Winchester, TN. We were SO impressed with the outstanding facility: it was very clean, so well organized, it was obvious that all of the animals were very well cared for. We will definitely go back to Dogs in Harmony when it's time for another fur baby. God bless Lila and the work she does!
Lila Jean is great. She loves her rescues and truly wants them to be in a good forever home. When I was interested in adopting her rescue "Pepper", she responded to my email in less than 24 hrs and I went to get that sweet little boy within a week. Pepper was healthy and looked great for all that he went through before Lila Jean got to him, she took great care of him.
Lila Jean also keeps in touch with Pepper via facebook. She comments on all his pictures and she still sends him love and kisses. She truly care for all her dogs.

4 years ago, my partner and I were moving into senior housing where we would be allowed to have a dog again. I also was retiring so that we both could devote time to a new fur baby. Looking on one of the adoption sites we came across Tippy Toe pics and video and fell in love. We emailed and submitted our very in-depth application, Lila called us and we chatted and asked questions. She thought we would be a match and transport from Tennessee to Maine was arranged. She was gracious enough to work with our timing. Everything was perfect! Our little fellow, now called Igor, has been the best dog we have ever own! You can tell these animals who are in her care are loved as if each one is her very own. She has an amazing rescue!

My rescue Anatolian had died suddenly; I was devastated and some time after I logged onto PetFinder just to see. I came across a photo of a dog curled up in a basket, with the most expressive face and eyes and I couldn't take my eyes off him. I followed up and Dogs in Harmony was the rescuer. I'm in NH, the dog was in TN. Lila Jean, the rescue director, responded right away and our discussions began. She told me all about this American Bulldog, the story she knew. I knew I wanted to move forward. She sent me photos during the next couple of days as she worked to improve his physical condition and she even sent a video of him playing with her under the light spray of a garden hose. I file the adoption application on line, she did her thing, and next she set up transport. My new pup arrived in an 18-wheeler in Kittery, ME, along with a group of other adoptive dogs, and he was brought to me on leash by transport team member -- lots of dogs were escorted to their new home owners that day. That was 5 years ago. My darling dog (renamed Chester) and I have a great life together. I'm still in contact with Lila Jean and highly recommend Dogs in Harmony. I found Dogs in Harmony and Lila 5 yrs ago when I was looking for a dog. I am in VA and found them in TN from the beginning there was a connection Lila made it personal she got to know us asked questions about our lives what kind of living situation the pup was going to she really cared and wasn't just going to hand a pup over to anyone to just place them. Every step of the way she was available on the phone every question was answered Maiya's health and welfare was always the priority and getting her to us was the happiest day ever. I got my dog Sheena aka Julia from dogs in harmony.she's my sweetheart.when I lost my husband last year she was beside me comforting me all the time. Lila Jean takes great care in her animals. When there's a bad storm she takes them in her home to calm them and Care for them. She's loves the work she does and you can tell by the animals you receive from her. She is truly saint for animals.
We got our sweet healthy tabby kittens from Lila about a year ago. She was so sweet and kind and also very organized and professional. I still keep in touch and donate. She and her staff are earth angels. So grateful! Highly recommend!

Our 2-year-old lab mix was born at the Dogs in Harmony shelter, and we'd recommend the organization to anyone. The founder, Lila Jean, is very thorough with her screening and clearly cares about finding the right home for the individual animals. For instance, she was looking for a home with a yard for our Bertie because she would most likely be high-energy and turns out she's the highest-energy dog around! Plus, Lila Jean would take the dog back if it didn't work out (a great sign) and the process was super clear and easy to navigate. Bertie is perfectly healthy, sweet-tempered, and we adore her. We're so grateful to Dogs in Harmony for getting her home!

I adopted my dog Molly a Chiweenie from Dogs in Harmony in 2019. Lila Jean knew just the right dog that would be a companion for me since I live alone. Molly was fully vetted and well cared for. The application and adoption process was painless. I still keep in touch with Lila Jean and let her know how well Molly is doing and how much I love her. After losing my niece dog after only 6 years due to cancer (she was a beautiful Aussie) We decided to look for a rescue because my Mom was getting a bit older and thought a pup might be too much under her feet! We started searching! Suddenly, through this awesome network the Aussie mix that we applied for had already been adopted but they suggested and boy dog! It was a crazy time Lila Jean is so dedicated to what she does it took a little time to figure out the details but she made it happen! I could go on and on but this magical boy has saved us!
We adopted two sibling dachshunds 11 years ago, and a tripawd black lab six years ago. Dogs in Harmony, Lila Jean and her crew, are the only reason some of these dogs are alive! Every dog that crosses their threshold is saved! Most are saved, vetted, chipped and adopted to great homes! But some have seen such a rough life that they may not be adoptable for either physical or emotional issues. Even those dogs are saved and cared for by Lila herself and live out their days in the comfort of her home. Trust me, I know! I have traveled from Massachusetts to her rescue in Tennessee to see how she does it, and I can tell you, on a shoestring budget with heart and love, that’s how!!! My lab Ace was found at 14 weeks half dead with a front limb tangled to the point of rotting in plastic twine. She reached out to her « peeps » to chip in for surgery. She never gives up, she will always find a way to help an animal in need. Ace survived and has been a working therapy dog visiting hospitals, nursing homes and schools. He almost died, but because of Dogs in Harmony, he is helping heal others and inspires resilience ! Thank God for this rescue!!

In 2015 My family and I had to help our fur baby Sadie cross the rainbow bridge at the age of sixteen and We were heartbroken to say the least. I said no more pets as it was just to hard. Well that lasted about a week. The house just wasn’t the same. So I was on the hunt for a new family member. I searched the internet for a dog to join our family. I found a picture of my girl Sophie and she was the one we wanted to bring home. We live in Maryland and she was in Tennessee. I read where transportation was available and I started the process. This was a new process for me but Lila Jean was very professional and helpful. She answered all my questions and I completed the application. She also put me in touch with Sophie’s foster mom Rhonda who took my calls and answered all my questions. Sophie had been rescued from the pound by Ms Trina as she knew that Sophie probably would not of made it out of the pound as she was very timid and scared. I believe that she had a rough start in life. Lila Jean worked on getting Sophie to me as soon as she could as I really wanted to have her while I was on my staycation so I could work with Sophie and get her used to her new home. Sophie arrived healthy safe and sound as promised ! Lila Jean is a hardworking lady who puts her heart and soul into saving animals that humans have dumped and abused. Bless her for all she does ! As for Sophie she lives the good life along side her pal Cooper and is very much loved ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have adopted two dogs from Lila. One is 7 years old and the other is almost 2 years old. Lila has stayed in touch with me through the years. By Far one of the Best Resuses "Dogs in Harmony" Lila is a resuce Angel..... Four 1/2 years ago my doggie Annie went to heaven. I was devastated. I have never live a day my whole life without a dog . Well I came across Dogs in Harmony by "Luck"..... Lila answered my prayers, she had what I was looking for, a new doggie to Love, Spoil & give a good home to! ...... She is a Saint, just what she does over & above for each and every animal, not just dogs! I've seen her go through storm, harboring all her rescues in her home for safety and rebuilding! " All on donation that come from you & I ....... Lila has done awesome work to ensure each & every pup is placed in a loving home. She makes the transition very easy going ! I couldn't be happier with my bordercollie/mix..... Very Bright smart good listener & was very easy to train, even learning some sign language ...... If it weren't for Lila I don't know where this poor doggie would have ended her life...... for now she has a loving home, whole couch to herself ...... Shes my girl " Gladys"
I found my dog who is the love of our lives Onyx from Lila Jean. She works so hard and cares so much for animals. I've never dealt with anyone who is so dedicated to their rescue as she is. I had the best experience with her getting my dog and I know many others who have as well. She is truly deserving of any donations she may be able to obtain to keep doing the great work she does. Especially in TN where there seems to be so many dogs dumped and abused.
I got an email alert from an online pet service with this hound mix and fell in love immediately. I filled out the application and Lila from Dogs in Harmony chatted with me on the phone for almost an hour, going over my application and answering all of my questions.
It was early December. I couldn't take him until a month after that, and she kept him for me, though he had already been with her getting healthy and fed for almost three months. He was everything she said and more and I *know* a big part of why he is the amazing, gentle, calm, sweet, playful boy he is is the loving care he received at Dogs in Harmony. He is great with kids, great with cats, great with other dogs, and really an absolute dream dog, and I don't know what I'd do without him. I am so, so grateful to this organization, and they'll be the first place I'll look if I ever decide to get a second dog.
Beyond that, I have seen so many of the dogs they take in, their patient and gentle care of animals who have been abandoned, starved, abused, neglected, traumatized. They do amazing work for these animals, and do whatever it takes to make them feel safe and loved.
I reached out to dogs in harmony 4 years ago based on a referral from a friend. It was the best thing I did. I lost my husband a couple of years prior and was looking for a dog. I have and have always had cats so they were able to check my vet history which was no issue as I take care of all of my pets with regular vet visits and treatments. I was cleared and Dogs in Harmony made the whole process easy. I have a wonderful pup who is spoiled rotten. He is a wonderful dog and Lila does a wonderful job with them. Baxter was so well adapted, friendly, and one of the best dogs I have ever had. I believe he is the way he is due to her care and training. We adopted this handsome guy in 2015. His mother came to the shelter pregnant, and Lila helped to birth the puppies and found them all great homes. She loves her work, and clearly cares about where each dog gets placed. My vet marveled at the paperwork sent along with the puppy-the vet said Lila clearly took good care of our dog until his placement.
Omg! Where to start? Lila is a GODSEND to dogs and cats who have found themselves at the mercy of unkind humans! Once you talk to her, you have no doubt that these sweet souls are her #1 priority, period! We adopted our boy McGee from her two years ago, after she personally nursed him back to health for an entire year! And then she selflessly let us adopt him, so that she would be able to help others. He is absolutely the most precious little man, and I literally shudder to think what would have happened to him if Mamma Lila hadn’t rescued him.

In the midst of the pandemic, we lost our old girl BayLee, a 13+ year old beagle mix rescue. To honor her, we wanted to rescue another dog in need. We had no idea that COVID and state regulations had brought about so many restrictions. We were about to give up when Lila Jean called us and said she had the perfect dog for us! We never imagined adopting a strange-looking Chinese crested/dachshund mix, but she is the most wonderful dog ever! Lila Jean went over and above to help us arrange transport of our new girl from Kentucky to Maine! A wonderful rescue and well worth supporting.
We adopted sweet Darcy from Dogs in Harmony in 2014. He was part of the 'cheese litter" and was named Swiss. The process was smooth, transparent, and supremely professional. Darcy was delivered to us in Maryland from TN without any problem. He was healthy and clean and had all his papers in order. in other words, exactly as Lila Jean promised. If we had to do it again, Dogs in Harmony would be our go-to place.

Lila Jean and her helpers provide loving care and adoption for stray dogs (and cats) in Tennessee. I have adopted 4 dogs from her and each one came with excellent documentation from her vet about their recent checkups and vaccinations. This rescue listens to your wants and abilities and does a great job matching animals with adopters. This rescue has a loyal following, but can always use financial assistance or supplies.
We have rescued 2 babies from Lila. 2 female dogs that to this day are thriving and very healthy! Lila and her team are wonderful, caring, loving and very experienced in all that they are doing to help save animals lives.

Such sweet people here! I adopted my pup seven years back (how time flies!). Jill was wonderful. Had all the information we needed and was super communicative with the whole process of bringing my dog up to Maryland. We were told he was house trained (he was 6 months old when we got him), his relative demeanor, and that he'd gotten all the shots and whatnot. All of it was correct information - he never ruined any of our furniture, never pooped/peed inside, his personality was spot on, and we got all of his paperwork when we picked him up. Honestly, could not recommend this place enough! I will always be grateful that I found this nonprofit.
We adopted our puppy Ginger in 2018 from Lila and her rescue Dogs in Harmony. Ginger was a fourth rescue and it was apparent that the protocol established by Lila was the most careful and caring that we had experienced. I have since followed the work done by Lila and her agency. I have continually been impressed with the work she has done to rescue and save animals. Her devotion is above and beyond anything I have witnessed. This is an outstanding organization and I would recommend them to anyone.
The adoption of my Taffy could not have been better. Lila Jean is thorough in screening potential adopters. She is clear with communication and very responsive. She works in conjunction with other rescues in the area, addressing hording and puppy mill situations, always focusing on the health and wellbeing of the animals. She is also a strong voice/advocate for animals.
Lila Jean Trivisonno, the owner and operator of Dogs In Harmony, has to be the kindest, most generous, and empathetic person I dealt with while trying to adopt a rescue dog after loosing my chihuahua in December of 2020. While many other organizations simply didn’t respond to my applications, Lila Jean responded to my application for “Cuddles” the very same day I sent it! She was so patient and understanding with me during the adoption process. Dogs In Harmony is extremely organized and professional, and I had my “Cuddles” within the week without a hitch due to the finely tuned method of communication and transportation. Lila Jean encourages all her adopters to stay in touch with her and give periodic updates if they so choose. She cares about every singe dog she has ever had and she thinks of them as her “furever” babies. She also cares about her adopters and is willing to spend time discussing problems concerning other dog issues, even if it is about other dogs, not the adopted one. In closing, Dogs In Harmony is an example of how a professional and caring adoption organization should be operated. I would give them a five star rating.

Lila was a life saver. When my Mother had passed away, my Father was very lonely and wanted a rescue. I went on multiple dog rescue sites, and the experience with them was awful. No one had returned my messages or emails. My friend, who had already gotten a rescue from Dogs in Harmony, highly recommended her. I have to say, Lily was a breath of fresh air. All I had to say was that my Father was looking for an adult rescue that was a "lap dog". Boy, did Lila provide. Bowie and my Father are the best match for each other. I live in Virginia and I adopted my dog Boomer from Dogs in Harmony in 2016. Everyday I am so grateful for the work they do at Dogs in Harmony. We got him as a three month old puppy and he had already been neutered and had two series of his immunizations. Lila Jean helps all the dogs that she can and she has given her life to them. They were very well cared for while under her watch and arrived in very good health, clean, and ready for their new home. Their medical records were very detailed. When our oldest of two dogs passed, we were looking for a puppy for our lonesome dog so he would have company. We came upon Dogs in Harmony purely by chance. I filled out an application to adopt a beautiful dog named Lime. After talking to Lila Jean and a thorough screening by her, she gave us the green light to adopt this angel, who renamed Bentley. And, yes, she screened us as she was giving one of her precious babies to someone she did not know. It was a wonderful experience. Last year, we decided we had enough love in our hearts to adopt another fur baby, and I immediately got in touch with Lila Jean. She let us adopt our beautiful Dexter. She is wonderful to deal with and all of the dogs are checked out by a vet to ensure they are healthy before she lets them leave her care and go to their furever home. She is a very special lady and each of the animals that end up at her rescue will only be adopted if they are going to a good home. I would strongly recommend Dogs in Harmony to anyone looking for a dog to join their family. I would go back to her again and again.
We adopted our fur-baby boy, Bowie, in October 2020. He was 4 months old. The organizers of this rescue are very caring, keep excellent medical records for their dogs, and are excellent communicators. They interviewed me for an hour.
I adopted a puppy from Dogs in Harmony back in 2012 and the whole process was professional and very easy. When I brought my puppy to our vet for the first time she could not believe all of the shots my pup came with. Our vet said she has seen pups come with bare minimum. Lila is a pleasure to work with and is so knowledgeable. My pup and I stay in touch with Lila and all of my pups siblings. If you are looking to adopt a pup this is the place to go. My husband and I were ready to add new family members to our family. I was on Facebook one night and came across 3 beautiful baby girls...I instantly fell in love with all. I reached out to Lila Jean at Dogs in Harmony. Talk about a great and easy experience. We were able to connect and now we have our baby girls who are thriving. With her love and support, she was able to save all 3 puppies from Parvo, nurse them to health and make the experience of adoption from her the most pleasant experience. She is an angel! My little boy (a Bichon) died and I was looking for another dog to adopt. i put in an application for a Bichon mix but the dog was already adopted. Lila Jean called me to say she had a small beagle for adoption. My wife and I immediately fell in love with the beagle named Nilly. Lila Jean worked with us to ensure we were informed of the adoption process and when we can pick up Nilly. We drive 200 hundred miles to meet Nilly without any introduction so we were not sure if it would work out. Nilly has adapted very well to our family of my wife, two cats, and myself. It was a great pleasure to work with Lila Jean and her attention to detail.
My wife and I were looking for a small dog to keep us company in our "golden years" and found Dogs in Harmony through Petsmart.
My wife originally wanted a poodle for company but as we were flipping through the photos, a picture of an Italian Greyhound (mixed with Chihuahua) came up. Just for an FYI, my wife used to have full size Greyhounds.
Well, as you can imagine, it was love at first sight. We immediately made contact with Lila Jean and she sent us the questionnaire for the dog whose name is Dee Dee. We filled it out and Lila Jean called us back that same day. We made the arrangments, money, etc. and prepared ourselves for our new family member.
We picked her up, brought her home and went to sleep ( it was 3:00AM). When we woke, we immediately took her outside to do her thing and watched her explore her new surroundings. To put it mildly, it took her a few weeks to get used to us (with me a couple of months). Evidently she didn't trust men too much.
To make a long story short, she's been our little girl now for 5 wonderful years . Attached is a picture of our little girl now. Thank you Lila Jean.
Dogs in Harmony is the best place to find your new pet and family member!!!:) I just adopted a wonderful dog from them and everything went so smoothly!!! I would recommend them to everyone!!! I’m very Grateful!!!

I was frightened and concerned about adopting a dog from so far away. I was more frightened of a scam as others had tried to take my money for nonexistent dogs. I did not give up. I found Jake on Adoptapet.com. He was being taken care of by Lila Jean at Dogs in Harmony.
After speaking with Lila Jean, I decided that I should trust her and her process. It went so amazingly smooth that I truly did not believe that we were getting a dog until I saw him in the back of the pet transport van.
I cannot tell you how open and honest Lila Jean was about everything.
Jake is all I wanted and more in a dog. He is sweet, he is fun, he is smart, and he is goofy all at the same time. He rode for a very very long distance to get home but he is home!

This is a great nonprofit. We just adopted the cutest dog ever from dogs and harmony. She's an amazing addition to our family. Lila Jean was terrific throughout the entire process. We live in Maryland so it was a long trip for a little dog but through the tender care of the transport team she made it just fine.
This is a first class organization. I can't believe there is any rescue group that cares more for animals! I adopted a dog from them in 2/17. The process was well organized and thorough. Cooper was a perfect match for me. I continue to remain in touch with them and will seek them out first if I choose to adopt another dog.
I adopted both of my dogs from dogs and harmony. Lila Jean was simply amazing to work with because you could tell she wasn't going to give her babies to just anyone. She asked for references and did a thorough phone interview as well (we also had to be Facebook friends so she could see "her babies" grow up). They came vetted and healthy! My vet was very impressed with the paperwork and vet records which were sent with both my dogs. I would highly recommend adopting from her because her love is palpable. She's dedicated her life to rescue. Her personal life is her dogs and their well-being.
I found a pup running around our shop like someone had dumped him. We put up on our sign that we had found him. And Lila Jean called hoping it was her dog that had gone missing. I told her that we couldn't keep him as we were living in a travel trailer at the time and she told me to bring him to her right away. (Now this was after we had spent 3days trying to find the owners) I took him out there and helped her to test him for heart worms. She checked him over, he spent a week or two with her and right away she found a great home for him! Lila Jean is an exceptional human being and lover of animals. What a Godsend and blessing she is!
Lila is truly a dog's best friend! Her never ending passion for helping animals that cannot help themselves is both noble and brave. I have adopted a beautiful baby (Mo) from Lila and was very surprised (and pleased) with the amount of care she had for Mo's well being. Lila is just an all around good person!
I have adopted 3 dogs from Lula Jean. She is incredible to work with and has dedicated her life to the cause. I would recommend Dogs in Harmony to anyone looking to adopt a puppy or adult dog. I cannot say enough positive things!!!

Like many, I was at first hesitant to adopt a dog without seeing it first and from so far away. But reading stories both here and on Facebook, followed by talking to Lila Jean , put my fears at ease. It became clear to me that she was a person truly commited to animal welfare. She was willing to send a dog my way without even getting the payment first. And that meant having the dog vet checked and transported at her own expense without
knowing for sure if she was going to get compensated or not. That was a huge sign for me. From what I have seen and read, she has helped countless animals, and she is truly doing the most selfless and compassionate thing. I highly recommend Dog in Harmony and I am happy that I got my 4 legged baby from Lila Jean.
Lila Jean is a truly compassionate, spirited, ornate human being!!!! I can't say enough about her and Dogs in Harmony. I had a chihuahua show up in my yard a few years ago. I wasn't supposed to have pet where I was (I already had one lol) so I ended up taking him to DIH which was right down the road from me. A few weeks later, after a major change in my life, I decided I needed that little dog in my life! So I called her and she still had him! I went that weekend and adopted him back! I named him Weasel and he is so funny and sweet...and such a weasel!!

This is Gracie. She was dropped on the side of a four-lane highway where she waited for months and months for her owners to come back. Of course, they never did. Kind people would throw her food occasionally, but no one could catch her...until me and Lila Jean, who single-handedly runs Dogs in Harmony in Winchester, Tennessee. I will never forget the night we finally got Gracie. It was one of the coldest winters in Tennessee history. I picked up the phone late one night and asked her if she could help me. I was afraid Gracie wouldn't make it through that winter. Lila never even asked me any questions. Her answer was just, "Yes. What can I do?"
Gracie is just one of many dogs Lila Jean has rescued. In fact, she generally has between 50 and 100 dogs at her rescue. She takes in the animals nobody else wants. She takes in the animals that are old, sick, blind, crippled. She gives everything she has to the animals in her care. Then when they are nursed back to health, or weaned off the bottles, or recovered from injuries, she then goes the extra mile and spends the extra time to make sure that they are the perfect match for their forever home.

Never once have I contacted Dogs in Harmony when they did not come through with any help they could provide to rescue, foster or save dogs, puppies, horses, pregnant and nursing moms. Lila Jean, the owner of Dogs in Harmony is one of the most selfless people I have ever met. She even helped me save a dog who had been dumped on the side of the road and had been waiting on her owners for MONTHS! It took us almost 2 weeks to even get close enough to touch her, but now Gracie is in a wonderful, loving foster home and safe. God Bless you, Dogs in Harmony and Lila Jean. XOXO
I first met Ms Lila Jean when I rescued a small dog that had been living on the side of the road, abandoned. She took this dog in and as the saying goes, "The rest is history." She has also taken in a litter of pups from a mama that was dropped off and had her babies under an abandoned house.
I love the work this woman does for dogs and puppies in Middle Tennessee. She cares for the unloved, high-risk, at-risk, abused and sick dogs nobody else will touch and finds them a carefully screened, loving, safe home. I just spent some time volunteering and Lila Jean had two Beta Club girls helping her walk and socialize dogs. She definitely knows the meaning of community and giving. I love this woman!
I adopted a little pup from Dogs in Harmony and I can't even say how amazing the entire process was. Lila Jean was so helpful throughout the whole adoption and answered all of our questions quickly. She was so supportive and from the beginning of the process all the way to picking up our wonderful girl. She truly cares about helping these dogs find great homes. I will definitely be looking at Dogs in Harmony when we are ready to adopt a second!
I volunteer with another dog rescue in the Nashville area and I have to say that there is no one that I know who is more concerned about an animal's welfare or takes better care of her rescued animals than Lila Jean (who runs Dogs in Harmony). Two years ago I adopted a beautiful hound/terrier mix from Dogs in Harmony. Lila Jean and Dogs in Harmony were amazing! What's most impressive is her dedication to saving, rehabilitating and placing these animals. She is a true angel. Her work with animals is a blessing to all animal lovers.
We have two beautiful rescue pups from Lila Jean and Dogs in Harmony. As an extreme dog lover, it's nice to have someone so willing to help and so informative and willing to stay in touch following the actual adoption! I still keep I'm contact with her about my pups and know if I ever need advice, she's the one! She was also one to tell me she knew I could absolutely take care of another pup when I was worrying about the second adoption! :)

Dogs in Harmony is a top notch rescue. I was a bit hesitant at first to adopt a dog sight unseen all the way from TN. One conversation with Lila Jean set my mind at ease. Every dog that she rescues is given the very best medical attention as well as tons of love. When I brought my puppy to the vet, he was truly amazed at the organization of the paperwork and astounded at the wonderful medical attention she had received from Dogs in Harmony. He said he's treated thousands of dogs from rescues but had never seen any who had received such amazing, thorough medical care prior to adoption. Aside from the excellent medical services and organized paperwork, Lila Jean provided helpful tips to aid my puppy's adjustment and she was available to answer any questions I had. My precious baby, Maggie has been with me for almost three years now. She is the most lovable, gentle, funny and sweet dog I ever met. I thank God every day for Lila Jean, her tireless work with Dogs in Harmony and my perfect furever friend, Maggie.

On Nov. 30, 2011 my beloved Phoebe passed away. I had a huge hole in my heart and knew the best way to honor Phoebe would be to adopt another dog and shower it with all my love. I began my search online and stumbled upon Dogs in Harmony. I contacted Lila Jean and she responded quickly. We were on vacation in Disney World and it was very difficult to hear her but she was so understanding and sweet. The paperwork was a breeze because it was so organized and easy to read. The fee was very reasonable as well. My precious Maggie was transported from Tennessee to a location near my home by two southern gentleman. While my husband and I were anxiously awaiting her arrival, we had the pleasure of meeting fellow adopters. Nearly two years have passed and I still keep in touch with the fellow adopters as well as Lila Jean! When we took Maggie for her first vet visit, our vet was shocked at how well she had been cared for. Many rescues do not provide all the health services Maggie had received before she was adopted. I could not be happier with Dogs in Harmony! Lila Jean is an angel on earth, who loves and cares for these precious babies until she finds them the perfect furever homes. My Maggie is the sweetest, gentlest, most loving dog I ever met and she's the perfect match for our family. I am so grateful to Lila Jean for all her tireless devotion and her endless love. When we are ready to adopt again, I will definitely be contacting Lila Jean at Dogs in Harmony :)
I have known Lila Jean since 1984. I have never known anyone who loves animals more than her. From her two Yorkshire Terriers and two Irish Setters when I first met her, to her farm a few years later, and then to her move to Tennessee and starting her own rescue. When you look at the sun at noontime, that is nothing compared to the light in Lila's eyes when she helps an animal. Anyone who knows her or has adopted an animal from her is better for having known her. God bless Lila Jean - an angel here on earth.
Lila Jean of dogs in harmony is absolutely amazing. She really helped ease my anxiety about adopting only 5 months after I had to put my dog of 10 years down. She listened to my cares, concerns & fears. After speaking with her many times she made me realize I was doing the right thing. She goes above and beyond in the care she gives each and every dog as well as to potential adopters, Dogs in harmony is one of a kind & I would reccomend them to anyone looking to adopt.
Dogs in Harmony was a wonderful organization to work with! Our families have rescued all of our dogs, but usually from local rescues. They warned us about the possibilities of scams and such, but we took a leap of faith with Dogs In Harmony. Lila Jean pours her heart and soul into her work. She was prompt with answering our inquiry, and helped expedite the process of rescuing our little girl. She worked incredibly with us, answering any questions we had and giving us every single detail in how to care for her. We got our girl exactly when she was scheduled to arrive and the delivery went smoothly. We are unbelievably blessed to have Andy in our lives. We highly recommend Dogs In Harmony rescue, we are referring all our friends to this organization and we most certainly are looking forward to working with Lila Jean again in the future.
Lila Jean is a rescue angel. She works harder than anyone I have ever seen in caring for and finding homes for all of her animals. Shw was sent by God and these dogs are the lucky recipients. God Bless her and all of those connected to Dogs in Harmony !!!!!
Lila Jean is one of the most caring individuals I have ever known in my life. I adopted my beautiful puppy from her about a year and a half ago. She kept me abreast from the time he was put on the transport to be delivered to me and I haven't stopped smiling since I picked him up. He arrived in excellent health with all of his records.

I must say...Dogs in Harmony is simply outstanding!! Lila is an angel sent from above, who has helped countless abandoned and abused animals find loving homes. Lila is one of the most caring and compassionate people I've ever known. I adopted Gladys, my Rat Terrier/Chi mix; from Dogs in Harmony Rescue Organization, just over two years ago. I really like Dogs in Harmony. I had adopted a pup few months ago from them and he was exactly just like his discription. "Spring", my new now a year old dog totally had been trying trust sessions and bonding. I was impressed as a first time owner of a rescued dog. I was told everything I needed to know before my new pup arrived which really helped. I had no idea how much supplies I needed but it was well worth it. I love collies as well as other breeds. As of the current update Dogs in Harmony has been helping rescue dogs from horrible situations and then placing them in forever homes. It really makes a difference for the world. I like their excellent service and how much love the dog get. I recommend this organization to anyone who's looking adopt a dog. Like the they say rescues dogs are the best!
What a wonderful company. Last year my daughters wanted a "brother" in dog form. I searched for about 2 months before I came across Dogs In Harmony. She was amazing from the furst email and is and will be the only person I get my dogs from. She is thorough with explanation and cares beyond belief about every animal she rescues. My dog came with his paperwork shots what he likes to eat and even tips. My dog is amazing and healthy. Thank you Dogs In Harmony I will recommend you to everyone looking for a dog.
I adopted my dog Logan from Dogs in Harmony about 15 months ago. I was searching for a dog that need rescued close to my home so I could easily pick it up. I searched on of the pet finding sites and saw that Dogs in Harmony was listed as servicing Hagerstown, MD...about an hour away from me. Little did I know there was a saint named Lila Jean in Tennessee working tirelessly to save dogs in the south and give them a better home!! I have never spoken to a more caring and concerned animal lover. Logan was flea ridden and bald when he came to Lila but by the time I got him he was nursed back to complete health. He came with full and updated medical records. I have loved every second I have spent with this great little guy. If anyone out there is looking for a special charity to support this is it!!!! This amazing woman is earning her wings while here on Earth:)
When I was getting married my husband said that I could plan the wedding but he got to pick the dog. Well 19 years, 1 kid and 2 cats later, he finally got to pick the dog. He searched on different sites and it always ended on bad reviews. Then he stumbled upon pictures of these really cute beagle pups. He inquired and that's when we met Lila Jean. That litter was spoken for but she listened to what we were looking for and showed us pics of a litter she just got, in fact some where born in the car on her way home from a shelter that the mom was just rescued from! We immediately fell in love with our 4-legged baby girl Rocky. We live in NJ and people asked why we were adopting from Tennessee vs somewhere local. Well, it's because we knew right away when we spoke with Lila that this was our rescue. She has a passion that we cannot put into words. These are her babies. She was very upfront with the process, gave frequent updates and pics despite the endless hours required. The fee was super reasonable and the pickup from the K9 Cowboy is a story we will forever tell. Our Rocky is loving and affectionate. Her first night home we knew this pup had been cuddled and received many, many belly rubs before coming to her forever home. That shows the level of love and care the dogs are provided. We would highly recommend Dogs in Harmony to anyone interested. Thank you Lila Jean and all of your volunteers for making our family complete!
Our family cannot thank LilaJean and Dogs in Harmony for the joy our four legged baby. When we made our inquiry about Goldie the response was prompt. The paperwork was not cumbersome. The fees were reasonable for all of the vet care Goldie received so that she could be adopted. My sister and I traveled from PA to TN to pick up Goldie because I did not want to wait for the next transport. The rescue is immaculate. The animals have lots of space to run. I cannot say enough positives for Dogs in Harmony.
Dogs in Harmony is a wonderful organization. Lila Jean Doesn't just save animals, rehome them, and move on she really cares and stays in contact afterwards. It has been two years for us now of having the opportunity to have this amazing woman in our lives we are so thankful she saved our Gunner not only is he a loving part of our family but he is also training to be my husband's TADSAW service dog. I would only ever adopt dogs from Dogs in Harmony from here on out and highly recommend them to everyone.
Lila has been rescuing and caring for animals for most of her life. She tirelessly cares and rescues these dogs. Healing them, loves them. Then finds loving safe homes.
This was the first time I dealt with a rescue organization. I was a little concerned about dealing with a rescue because I heard so many complaints about them. I would return to Dogs in Harmony in a heart beat. They were in contact with me when they said they would be. The cost was very reasonable and Lili was very honest! Dogs in Harmony truly loves what they do..saving one dog at a time. When I received Molly she was extremely healthy and was very loving. I will return to Dogs in Harmony next time I'm looking for another dog to become a member of our family. I wouldn't trade Molly for anything!
