Mission: Providing thurston county, wa residents with conflict resolution services, by offering phone consultations, mediation services, and extensive mediation training.
Programs: Conciliation and mediation - a total of 758 residents were directly served through telephone services, which include problem solving, referral, case development, and conciliation. A total of 552 residents were directly served through formal mediation services. Another 1222 people were indirectly served who were not directly involved in negotiations but who benefitted directly from their proximity to and involvement in the dispute. Eighty six percent of mediation cases achieved settlements.
youth program: we have partnered with 7 schools and youth service organizations and provided training that engaged 208 students and staff in authentic dialog that deepened understanding. Our peacemaker clubs in local elementary and middle schools provided communication and conflict resolution skills through circle conversations, games and fun interactive activities.
training - a total of 857 people were directly involved as participants in dispute resolutions training, which included introductions to the field of mediation, basic mediator training, family mediator training, multi-party mediator training, and custom communication and conflict resolution training. We offered 41 different training events to members of the community, schools, agencies, businesses, and our own volunteers/conciliators/mediators.
