I've been volunteering with Forks Disaster Relief since May 2022.

Operations are funded in part through the clothing bank, Ginger's Community Closet. Prices are fantastic (75 cents to $2.50 for most items), and we work hard to keep the store neat and organized for easy shopping. If you're patient, the world comes through this place! I've seen everything from waders to Vera Wang. The shop is open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from noon to 4 pm at 181 Bogachiel Way in Forks, WA.

The clothing shop is also a big part of what they do: free clothing (and home textile) vouchers for low-income residents or those recovering from crisis. They also provide emergency financial assistance on an application basis and other support programs, like warming kits for those without shelter. Applications are free, easy, and often approved instantly or the same day.

They've allowed me to set up free clothing repair workshops and have generally made it an accessible place to volunteer. In fact, it's almost entirely volunteer-run (there is one part-time staff member).

The shop, which supports disaster relief, is entirely supported by donations of pre-loved items from the community.
