Mission: Dijo productions theatre company ("dijo") is a professional nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt theatre company committed to promoting the public interest by culturally enriching the people, places, and organizations of california's santa barbara, los angeles, and surrounding counties through the presentation of theatrical performances. In particular, dijo will provide an outlet for historical and other dramas by well-known and emerging playwrights, plays which address the public interest, and also will provide audiences with greater exposure to theater by presenting luncheon staged readings of a variety of plays with an emphasis on comedy. In addition, dijo will educate elementary, high school and college students, and other inquiring minds in the importance of contemporary theatre.
Programs: The theatre will use the art to provide food for the theatrical soul of los angeles by sponsoring plays created by new playwrights, producing revivals of classical plays, as well as through educating elementary, high school, college students and other inquiring minds. In particular, the theatre will provide an outlet for plays by well-known and emerging latino playwrights, plays which address the public interest, and also to provide audiences with greater exposure to readings of plays by playwrights or themes featured in main stage productions.
