I’d like to thank all the amazing staff at Dignity U Wear for helping School Social Workers in Duval County, Florida establish our very own clothing closet. The passion you have for helping school children in need by providing them with brand new clothing is unparalleled. By providing approximately 10,000 pieces of clothing for our first order we have been able to stock two large rooms with clothing. Without this partnership, none of this would have been possible. Since August 2014, School Social Workers have been able to provide over 4,000 pieces of clothing (including school uniforms) to students. School Social Workers have been able to distribute clothing items to students rapidly and efficiently. We cannot express to you how grateful and honored we are to share in the same mission as DUW which is caring for those who are less fortunate and underserved in our community. Thank you for enriching the lives of our students by providing them the dignity they deserve. Kudos to everyone at DUW for making all of this possible! Gregory Kahrs, School Social Worker, Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dignity U Wear provides something that all of us need, and even identify ourselves with on occasion ~ new fitted clothing. Now imagine waking up and not having anything to put on - even worse imagine wondering how you will be able to keep your children warm when they head off to school. What if you want to get on your feet, to better provide for your family and had nothing to wear for a job interview, of if you did have something to wear knowing it didn't fit. I am very blessed to run this life altering nonprofit, serving the gift of dignity to those who have been knocked down, but who do want to get back on their feet. It's just that important!
In 2008 I volunteered with Dignity U Wear with Rotaract! I loved the time I spent in the sort room helping to prepare shipments for agency partners! I was inspired by the mission to help others to give a hand up.
Fast forward to 2017, I now work for the organization. I enjoy my work to support the mission to help others by giving the gift of dignity!
Dignity U Wear effectively matches donated and low cost new clothing with charitable organizations where the gift of new clothing goes far in helping the recipients gain confidence and self esteem. The staff goes out of their way to maintain solid donor relationships and keep donors informed.
