Causes: Religion, Religious Printing & Publishing
Mission: To promote and develop the seminal thought of dietrich von hildebrand, a 20th century catholic philosopher and leading opponent of nazism and communism, through key channels such as publications, seminars, student fellowships, online resources, video, and social media.
Programs: Publications: the hildebrand project was founded to translate and publish the works of dietrich von hildebrand. This founding purpose remains central. A decade of compiling, translation, and editing came to fruition with the publication of "my battle against hitler" (2014), featuring hildebrand's memoirs and anti-nazi essays. The hildebrand press, a new publishing arm, was launched in november 2016 with hildebrand's "liturgy and personality" and a translation of his "aesthetics" (vol. 1). Work continued in 2016 on a new edition of "in defense of purity" and a translation of "aesthetics" (vol. 2).
academic: the hildebrand project supports the engagement and study of hildebrand through a range of programs. 2016 saw the 6th annual summer seminar, held on franciscan university of steubenville's campus, on the topic, "the past and promise of christian personalism. " our student fellowship program at franciscan university welcomed 16 fellows over the course the year. Fellows immerse themselves in the work of hildebrand while supporting the project's programming.
education and outreach: hildebrand press was launched in june with a panel discussion and reception in new york city. Public events, including our annual summer seminars, are filmed and presented on the project's youtube channel and on our website (www. Hildebrandproject. Org). The website is regularly updated and has been expanded to include up-to-date videos, photos, and information. The project communicates regularly with our mailing list and followers on social media. The student fellowship blog, "truth from the heart," saw continued increased in traffic.
